❇️Expecting, baby wearing, and toddler chasing mamas (whatever stage of motherhood you find yourself in), join us this Saturday morning as we discuss pelvic floor health with the lovely Dr. Charis Hamilton.

❇️While it's true that our pelvic floor doesn't get a lot of attention from mainstream medical care, things like bladder incontinence & pain with s*x & organ prolapse & the list goes on doesn't have to be our norm.

❇️And even if you don't struggle with any of these issues, understanding more about how to support this important area is a win.

🎄Merry Christmas from my family to yours! I am grateful for gifts 🎁 big and small in this season, not the least of which is the beautiful community of families and birthworkers I have the joy of supporting and serving alongside. Thank you for welcoming me into your lives.

✨Beautifully lit Christmas trees🎄 make me so happy. I tell my family that unlit Christmas trees actually make me sad. I don't care that much about the other decorations (see my family's tree this year on the second picture! lol...actually, I do love all the special and homemade ornaments). But the lights just bring a smile to my face.

✨Throughout the long sleepless nights of the first year of my sweet baby boy's life, the verse "Joy comes in the morning..." was what I clung to. I actually wrote it on my bedroom wall! There really is something about the sun breaking through after a long dark night - even if our circumstances haven't changed at all.  The baby is still fussy, I'm still tired, but...joy, the sun is up!

✨Truly, in this Advent season and always, joy comes when we trust and understand that (cliche as it may be) Jesus really is the reason for the season. The feeling we get from lights on the tree, giving and receiving presents, the sun rising on a beautiful day...those are all but mere reflections of the true joy that is found in knowing Jesus as a friend, as our Lord, and as our Savior.

✨Praying that as Advent comes to an end and we begin to celebrate Christ's birth and life, we will remember the hope we have in Him, the peace He gives us, the unconditional love we receive from Him, and the joy that only He brings. Merry Christmas, friends! Caption:

❄️Y'all, 2021 has been another hard year. I'm sure you can fill in the blanks there, both personal and collective. I know I can. The end of it is almost here, however, and I find myself praying that with its closing there will be an end of weeping that tarries, an end to what has felt like unending winter, an end to our present darkness.
❄️I know that of course there will never be a complete end to weeping, to winter, to darkness until we experience the second Advent of Christ-- when he returns as fullness of joy, eternal spring, and Light itself-- but I do long to feel that with Christmas and the start of 2022 we will collectively breath out all that we've endured and breath in joy at the prospect of a new day.
❄️For me 2021 has felt like the longest labor full of hard pains: pains that have brought me to an end of myself, acquainted me with my inability to do this life in my own strength, pressed me to reposition my heart and mind through agonizing movements necessary for the birthing of my true purpose.
❄️At times I've felt like I couldn't breathe, that the pressure was more than I could bear, that this transition would never end. In fact, I'm not even sure at this moment that it is ending. But what I do know is that with God as my midwife, I will know joy in the morning: I will shift from the pregnant pain of labor to the blessed joy of holding what I worked faithfully to accomplish.
❄️My prayer for you, friend, is that whatever your long night of labor looks like, you will on this Christmas cling with hope and tenacity to the joy that comes with the morning, to the joy made possible because of Emmanuel, God with us. 🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️

🕯️HOPE - what an incredible concept for mamas, postpartum or pregnant or at any stage really.

✨Hope is exactly what God was trying to instill in Mary that day that an angel came and told her what would happen inside her body - a miracle beyond belief; impossible, except..."Nothing is impossible with God."

During this Advent, my prayer 🙏🏻 is that you will find hope in whatever circumstance you find yourself, no matter how impossible it might seem.

Maybe you're a mama of a sleep-fighting little one - hope!
Maybe you're a new family struggling with finances - hope!
Maybe your marriage is suffering for any number of reasons- hope!

Just the feeling of hope doesn't change things, though - God changes things. And Jesus changes US.

Nothing - NOTHING - is impossible with God. He told it to Mary and He tells it to us. Have hope, sweet mamas - this season of waiting won't last forever. 💛

One of the many reasons I love what I “doula” 😉: lunch with clients who feel like friends.
Seriously, it's a major perk of this job, getting to meet lovely women in my community and share in the real of life with them. This is what good birth work is all about for me, relationship and support.
