Happy Father's Day!
My wife had to work today, and my middle daughter, Khloe, left for a mission trip. Which I am genuinely grateful for... but seriously, who leaves on Father's Day for a mission trip? 😂 That would've never happened on Mother's Day. We all know it.
This morning, I got up to get ready for church, and my wife and kids had already laid out cards and a gift on the table. The gift was a dog tag engraved with the Serenity Prayer. Honestly, one of the best gifts I've ever received.
Sometimes I get accustomed to the gifts God has given me. I get used to them. I can unintentionally take them for granted. But today was a reminder that these gifts are miracles I never deserved.
If it weren't for a praying mama and a praying wife, I probably wouldn't be celebrating Father's Day at all. God's love, expressed through the faithfulness of people who refused to give up on me, helped push me toward freedom.
This dog tag means more than metal and words. It's a reminder of a life I almost lost, a family I almost forfeited, and a grace I still stand amazed by.
Today I celebrate being a husband, a son, and a father, but most of all, I celebrate because of the ultimate Father and Son combination. God the Father sent His Son so that broken people like me could be redeemed, restored, and called sons ourselves.
So today I'm thankful for serenity, for second chances, for praying women, for daughters on mission, and for a Heavenly Father who never stopped pursuing me.
Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there. Keep showing up. Someone sees you, someone needs you, and God isn't finished with you yet.
We were missing a few this morning. But I love them. Kasey Tiffany Goins(Tiffany), Khloe and Jayljn
