Our hospital services include multi-specialty surgical services; MRI, CT Scan, x-ray and digital mammography led by an on-site radiologist; rehabilitation and sports medicine clinics in Decorah, Calmar, Cresco and Spring Grove, MN, with outreach to area schools and nursing homes; diabetic education; home medical equipment; home health and hospice; a hospitalist program for 24-hour inpatient care; a swing-bed program for skilled nursing care for rehabilitation and recovery; and obstetrics services. WinnMed also provides urgent care, a 24/7 emergency room and ambulance service staffed physicians, specialized nursing staff and paramedics. WinnMed marked an important milestone during National Hospital Week in May with a private, internal dedication of its newly acquired property at the corner of Ridgewood Drive and Montgomery Street in Decorah. The building, previously known as the Keystone Building and originally home to Calvary Baptist Church, will now be called the Huebner Building and serve as the home for WinnMed Home Health & Hospice services.

WinnMed purchased the building in July 2025 to address the need for additional space to support their growing service lines. Keystone AEA leases the building’s lower level, maintaining its presence and services in the community.

WinnMed is pleased to welcome David McAlpine, M.D., to its medical team. Dr. McAlpine joined WinnMed full time this spring, providing emergency medicine care to patients in the WinnMed Emergency Department.

Dr. McAlpine earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee in 2011 and completed his residency in Emergency Medicine through the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in 2014. He has provided emergency care in both critical access and tertiary hospital emergency department settings and has held various leadership roles throughout his career. His professional interests include heart failure and cardiac arrhythmia, mental health crisis management, professional health and development, and patient education and preventive medicine. Dr. McAlpine is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.

📢 Attention patients and visitors! 📢

Starting Tuesday, May 26, WinnMed will be replacing the asphalt on the circle drive outside the Main Entrance.

Parking Lot A and the Main Entrance will remain open and accessible all week. Please follow posted signs for patient drop-off and use caution around construction areas.

We anticipate the project will be completed on or before Friday, May 29, weather permitting. Thank you for your patience as we make these improvements to better serve our patients and visitors.
