My name is Mary Dyer, and I am a proud Co-Owner of a small, kind hearted home care business. K&M is the name I started using back in 2023 but ive been a care giver since 2014 when I started my nursing career. Ive found a passion and purpose that I wouldnt trade for the world. I knew even at a young age that caring for others was what I wanted to do with my life. Ive always had a big heart for taking care of people but more so, the elderly, and their golden years. This is such a special time in their life but it can also be a very vulnerable time too. If you dont have a love for the job, the person your taking care of could feel it. For me, it is my passion and my purpose. To love, comfort, and provide company for those in need.

My name is Kristen Campbell, and I have always enjoyed helping others. I began working in the healthcare industry in 2019 and plan to start my education this fall to become an RN. A few years ago, I started my own business with a good friend and coworker, Mary Dyer. We wanted to combine our names to come up with K&M, but we also wanted it to show our love and care for what we do day in and day out.

Working with the elderly brings me a sense of fulfillment. I have a great deal of respect for them, and I enjoy hearing about their lives and the wisdom they have to share. I appreciate providing them with the care they need during their golden years to ensure they feel loved, valued, and cared for. I like to take care of my clients as if they were my own family members, with a lot of compassion, care, and a soft heart. I love being able to make them smile and feel safe.

My name is Torrie Pratt, and I’ve been in the nursing and healthcare field since 2008. I’m a certified Personal Support Specialist (PSS) and have been proud to be one of the caregivers for K&M for about a year now. Working in private in-home care truly means so much to me—it’s more than just a job. I love being able to bring comfort, kindness, and a sense of family to the people I care for. Helping others live with dignity and joy in their homes is what makes this work so special to me.

K&M attended the local career fair at Deer Isle Stonington High School today and had the opportunity to speak with 8th-12th graders about the role of private in-home care and the pathways for entering this field, with the hope of inspiring local students to consider a career in healthcare.
