Florida Health Advisory: Rise in Diarrhea-Causing Parasite

If you or a family member have had ongoing diarrhea, cramping, or nausea this summer, it's worth paying attention to. Florida health officials are reporting a growing number of cyclosporiasis cases, an intestinal infection caused by the parasite Cyclospora cayetanensis — as part of a broader outbreak being investigated across the country.

Common symptoms include watery (sometimes explosive) diarrhea, stomach cramps, bloating, nausea, loss of appetite, and fatigue. Symptoms typically appear one to two weeks after exposure, often linked to contaminated fresh produce.
