💪🏼 THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE PROMISE

A groundbreaking school requires more than an innovative curriculum and unparalleled opportunities. It requires extraordinary people.

From the beginning, ASHS has been meticulous about building a team of exceptional teachers, counselors, residential staff and student-support professionals — people chosen not only for their expertise, but for their commitment to helping students thrive now and throughout their work and personal lives.

Now they’re in place. The classrooms and dorm are open. And 79 students have an entire team behind them as they begin their .

💙 : READY FOR DAY ONE.

After a full immersion in how learning and living at ASHS will work, Orientation Day ended with something bigger: A reminder to students of why they are here.

The 79-member inaugural ASHS student body came together for its first Assembly, surrounded by the faculty and staff who will teach, guide and care for them, along with special guests from the ASHS Foundation and Board of Trustees and Bloomberg Philanthropies.

It was a celebration but also a sendoff. Dr. Savannah JG Giovane, a family medicine obstetrics physician and assistant professor of family, internal and rural medicine, showed where students’ hard work can lead. ASHS Trustee Danne Howard, president and CEO of the Alabama Hospital Association, showed her support for their early commitment to becoming a much-needed part of the state’s healthcare workforce.

When these students from 45 communities across Alabama wake up tomorrow, the months of prep are over. They will walk into their classrooms and begin the rigorous academics, healthcare-focused learning and career training they came here to pursue.

Tonight, they are ready.

➡️ Take a look at some of the moments from an inspiring conclusion to Orientation Day, including the first photo of the entire ASHS student body together — and, at the end, some of the inspiring words and personal experiences Head of School Laura Bailey shared as she prepared them for what comes next.

Tomorrow, the learning begins. The does, too.

🧭 -Day 2: GETTING ORIENTED

Our 79 inaugural students have already had two orientations — the first in January for accepted and prospective students and the second with families in June in Demopolis. But today was The Real Thing.

Students had moved in and spent their first night in their dorm rooms, shared a meal and a movie before waking up, donning their school polos, grabbing breakfast, and launching into a serious, daylong guide to learning and living in their new setting.

➡️ Here are some scenes from the morning.

🤝45 HOMETOWNS. ONE COMMUNITY.

Tonight, 79 ASHS students will spend their first night together in the dorms on our mini-campus at The University of West Alabama — away from home, surrounded by new classmates and ready for an experience unlike any other.

They came today from across Alabama to take on a rigorous curriculum through a , immerse themselves in career training, and prepare for the futures they already have begun to imagine.

Different hometowns. The same dreams, and one shared historic adventure ahead.

📸 Here’s another look at how the move-in went today in Livingston.
