Did you know that peer pressure can be positive? Positive peer pressure can help children build healthy friendships, find good role models, and receive helpful advice and feedback from supportive friends. It encourages social interaction, provides motivation, and introduces new experiences.

However, peers can also be a source of stress. The pressure to fit in and conform can be strong and difficult for children and teens to resist. Teaching children how to recognize peer pressure is important so they can learn to distinguish between healthy influences that support their growth and unhealthy influences that may cause harm.

Healthy Habit: Volunteering!
Did you know that volunteering can positively impact your child’s health and development? Volunteering helps build empathy and teamwork skills, and it’s associated with higher academic performance and improved mental well‑being. Helping others has also been shown to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression.

Summer is a wonderful time to look for local volunteer opportunities, and modeling leadership and service for your children is a great place to start!

We are so proud to announce a valuable addition to our Pediatrics at Juban team! Please help us welcome:
Aimee Robertson, APRN, NNP-BC, CPNP-PC

Aimee Robertson is a double board-certified Neonatal and Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner with over 14 years of nursing experience. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2012, followed by a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of South Alabama in 2021. In 2025, she completed a Post-Graduate Certificate from the University of South Alabama.
Aimee was a Pediatric Cardiac ICU nurse at Children’s Hospital New Orleans in 2013. In 2015, she moved into the NICU at Woman’s Hospital, where she discovered her passion for caring for critically ill newborns and micro preemies. She began practicing as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner in 2022, and later expanded her scope of practice by becoming a Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner in 2026.
Aimee is passionate about supporting children and families throughout every stage of care. One of the most rewarding parts of her career has been caring for fragile, premature infants in the NICU and now having the opportunity to continue caring for them in the outpatient setting as they grow and thrive.
Outside of work, Aimee enjoys gardening, traveling, spending time with family, and helping her husband at their cake shop- especially when it involves taste-testing the cakes. She and her husband are so excited to welcome their first baby this July. Welcome to our team Aimee!

Cyberbullying, privacy concerns, exposure to harmful content, and negative impacts on mental health are all important issues to be aware of. Teaching your children to be kind online, think before they post, use privacy settings, and avoid interacting with strangers can help keep them safe. And remember—kids learn from what they see, so set a positive example through your own social media use.
