Every Sunday this month, we’re posting an outdoor challenge. Today's: find something alive and look at it for 60 seconds.

A tree. A bird moving through clouds. Grass in wind. Anything that exists outside of a screen and has its own rhythm.

Psychologists call this "soft fascination": the effortless, low-demand attention that natural environments produce. Unlike the hard focus required by screens and work, soft fascination allows the prefrontal cortex to rest and restore. It's one of the mechanisms behind why nature reliably reduces mental fatigue.
