Hi everyone, Caroline here. Just wanted to give a little update on Casey. ❤️
Casey is HOME.
After taking him back to the ER on Friday because of extreme head pressure, scans revealed that the back left tumor — the one originally planned to be removed in about a month — had started bleeding and was causing unbearable pressure and pain.
That afternoon, he was admitted back into the ICU while the doctors worked to manage his pain and monitor him ahead of surgery. By Saturday morning, after meeting with his surgical team and seeing that the medications still weren’t giving him relief, we all agreed the best course of action was to move forward immediately with surgery to remove the tumor.
Around noon on Saturday, Casey went into surgery, and thankfully, it went absolutely flawlessly.
His surgeons were able to remove most of the tumor, and when he woke up, he was already experiencing significantly less pressure and pain than before surgery. Even more encouraging, his speech and strength were about the same as they were before the operation, meaning the surgery itself did not create additional deficits. That was such a huge relief for all of us.
Over the next few days, Casey continued recovering quickly in the ICU. By Tuesday, he was stable enough to be moved to a lower level of care, and then on Wednesday, he was finally released to come home.
Seeing him back home with us and with Katherine again has been emotional in the best way.
He still has a long road of healing ahead of him physically, mentally, and emotionally, but this surgery gave him so much relief and another huge step forward in this fight.
We are endlessly grateful for every prayer, donation, message, and person standing beside us through this journey. The love surrounding Casey and our family has been overwhelming in the most beautiful way.
Please continue praying for complete healing, strength, and recovery as he continues resting and rebuilding day by day. ❤️
