Chicago Behavioral Hospital

Chicago Behavioral Hospital Freestanding psychiatric hospital specializing in mental health and substance use treatment.

Chicago Behavioral Hospital (CBH) is a 146-bed, free-standing facility located in Des Plaines, Illinois, providing specialized mental health and substance use treatment for teens and adults. Since opening in 2014, CBH has been committed to offering compassionate and effective care through both inpatient and outpatient services. CBH addresses a wide range of mental and behavioral health conditions,

including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and substance use disorders. We provide free, confidential assessments 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our treatment approach is based on evidence-based modalities, proven to yield positive outcomes. The hospital’s environment is designed to be comfortable while maintaining the highest levels of privacy and confidentiality. Our multidisciplinary teamβ€”comprising therapists, counselors, nurses, and doctorsβ€”delivers compassionate, patient-centered care to all individuals and their families. Each patient receives an individualized treatment plan tailored to their specific needs. This plan is developed collaboratively with input from the patient, their family, and the treatment team. Specific interventions are employed to help patients achieve their recovery goals. The primary objective of treatment is to support symptom stabilization and improve patients' overall functioning. To ensure continued success, an aftercare plan is developed, guiding patients through the next steps in their recovery journey.

πŸ’œπŸ©΅ Su***de Prevention Week | Hope Starts With a Conversation πŸ’œπŸ©΅

This week during Su***de Prevention Week, Chicago Behavioral Hospital joins our community in raising awareness, encouraging meaningful conversations, and reminding everyone that hope is real, help is available, and no one has to struggle alone.

This week, our patients participated in a special activity centered around hope, strength, and reasons to keep going. Patients were invited to write on a sticky note what gives them hope and their reasons to keep moving forward. Each message was added to our Hope Wall, creating a powerful reminder that everyone has a story and sometimes a few encouraging words can make a difference in someone else’s day.

Our staff also received su***de prevention awareness ribbons as a symbol of compassion, support, and our continued commitment to being there for individuals and families during some of their most difficult moments.

πŸ’œ You matter.
🩡 You are not alone.
πŸ’œ Asking for help is a sign of strength.
🩡 Hope and healing are possible.
πŸ’œ Your story matters. Your life matters.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health or su***de crisis, call or text 988 to reach the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.

Today, we pause to remember a day that forever changed our nation.

We honor the lives that were lost, the families who continue to carry their memories, the survivors whose lives were forever changed, and the first responders who showed extraordinary courage in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

At Chicago Behavioral Hospital, we also recognize that grief and trauma do not have a timeline.
May today remind us to hold our loved ones a little closer, check in on one another, lead with compassion, and never take a moment together for granted.

β€οΈπŸ€πŸ’™ We remember. We honor. We stand together. We will never forget.

πŸ’œ International Overdose Awareness Day 2026 πŸ’œ

In recognition of International Overdose Awareness Day Regional, Julia Jacobs, and Community Outreach Specialist Georgeshia Norwood proudly participated in the West Side He**in and Opioid Task Force’s Annual International Overdose Awareness Day event on Friday, August 28, at Pulaski & Lake in Chicago.

It was powerful to see so many organizations come together with one shared purpose to remember the lives lost to overdose, support individuals and families impacted by substance use, reduce stigma, and connect our community with treatment and recovery resources.

At Chicago Behavioral Hospital, we are grateful for opportunities to collaborate with community partners who are committed to making resources and support more accessible. Together, we can continue spreading the message that recovery is possible, treatment is available, and no one has to face this journey alone. πŸ’œ

Thank you to the West Side He**in and Opioid Task Force and all of the organizations that participated and continue doing this important work in our communities.
