Fall is the best season to make soap 🎃🧡
These leaf and pumpkin bars are made with melt and pour, which makes them a great project if you’re new to soap. Very forgiving, and they look like you spent all day on them.
You’ll need:
3 lbs melt and pour soap base (goat milk is our pick, but shea butter base works well too)
Leaf, acorn, and pumpkin silicone molds
A large rectangle silicone mold
Colorants like mica, kaolin clay, safflower, turmeric, beetroot, alfalfa, or annatto
8 g essential oils (about 160 drops, but weigh it if you can)
Two blends we love:
Autumn Hike: balsam fir, frankincense, and cedarwood
Sweater Weather: lemon, clove bud, and patchouli
How to make them:
Cut your soap base into chunks and melt it gently, either in a double boiler on low or in the microwave at 50% power.
Stir in your essential oils once it’s fully melted.
Pour off small portions to color. Add ½ tsp of colorant at a time until you like the shade.
Fill the leaf, acorn, and pumpkin molds with a little colored soap. Let them set for about 20 minutes, then pop them out.
While those set, pour your first layer into the rectangle mold.
Once that’s firm, pour a second layer on top. I left mine the natural cream color of the base.
Spritz the top with high proof alcohol to knock out any bubbles. Give it about 15 minutes, then gently press your leaves, acorns, and pumpkins into the surface.
Let it set for at least 2 hours before you cut.
