My heart is so full of gratitude for the Boldly Moving Education Ahead Educator Ambassador Award. This recognition means more than I can fully express.

This award was both validating and vindicating. Through That Social Work Lady, LLC, I have always given my all — but I have not always felt seen. There have even been times when people actively worked against me, despite knowing I was showing up in the best interests of clients, families, and the communities I serve.

And yet — here we are. I am invigorated to do more, with greater intention, toward the healing of my people. That intention is already in motion. I am honored to partner with BMEA to provide clinical support for their summer programming — work centered on the wellness of Black and Brown children and the educators who pour into them every day. This is exactly the kind of work my heart was made for. 💙

was never meant to be your whole identity.

You can be a woman.

You can be Black.

You can even be strong.

Just remember — those are merely adjectives that describe specific characteristics, not the entirety of your person.

You are vast. You are layered. You are allowed to be more than what you’ve been asked to carry.

What becomes possible when you put it down?

When the armor softens and the compulsion to caregive releases its grip — there is a woman waiting there. Magnificently gentle.

Gloriously whole. Fully human and fully free.

Today, a room full of mothering women dared to imagine her.

That was T.H.U.G. Recovery.

Because T.H.U.G. doesn’t just mean what the world made it mean. In the words of Jason Wilson — it means Traumatized Human Unable to Grieve. And she has grieved long enough in silence.

She was never just a little girl.
Before she knew her own name in the world, she knew how to hold everybody else's weight. She learned to read the room before she learned to read. She became Mama before Mama could be Mama.
And she never got to grieve any of it.
That's what a T.H.U.G. is. Not a stereotype. Not a threat.
A traumatized human unable to grieve.
T.H.U.G. Recovery for Mothering Women is coming.

You know the feeling. That low hum of exhaustion that never fully goes away. The way you automatically put yourself last without even thinking about it. The losses you never cried for because someone needed dinner, or the light bill paid, or a hug they didn't know how to ask for. You told yourself you'd get to it. And then you didn't. And then years passed.

T.H.U.G. Recovery for Mothering Women was designed for you.
This is a Therapeutic Encounter — not a lecture, not a seminar, not another workshop where someone tells you to practice more self-care. This is a held, intentional healing experience where you will:

*Learn why your body has been carrying what your mind has been avoiding
*Understand the clinical truth behind being a Traumatized Human Unable to Grieve
*Move — gently and intentionally — to begin discharging stored trauma
*Write toward the grief you have not been allowed to name
*Participate in a grief acknowledgment ritual rooted in African American healing tradition
*Leave with something you may not have felt in a long time: relief
