For many people, chronic low back pain is caused by degenerative disc disease, a condition in which the spinal discs lose hydration and structural integrity over time, leading to pain and reduced function.
Via Disc NP is a minimally invasive, non-surgical procedure that uses an allogeneic nucleus pulposus tissue allograft derived from donated human disc tissue. The treatment is designed to supplement the nucleus pulposus—the gel-like center of the intervertebral disc—and is intended to support the disc environment in appropriately selected patients.
Who may be a candidate?
Adults with chronic low back pain lasting 6 months or longer
Pain that has not improved with conservative treatments such as physical therapy, medications, or activity modification
MRI evidence of lumbar disc degeneration
Patients whose symptoms are consistent with discogenic (disc-related) pain rather than nerve compression or other spinal conditions
The procedure is performed under image guidance, typically on an outpatient basis, with little downtime.
Because every patient and every spine is different, a thorough evaluation, physical examination, and imaging review are essential to determine whether Via Disc NP is an appropriate treatment option.
