Dr. Cziep brings five years of surgical experience and extensive training to Teton Valley. He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, completed a year of residency through the University of Missouri, and went on to complete a five-year General Surgery Residency through the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks and Fargo.

He began his surgical career in a rural hospital near Knoxville, Tennessee, where he developed a passion for rural healthcare and the opportunity to care for a broad range of surgical conditions while building strong relationships with patients and fellow providers.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Cziep enjoys spending time with his wife and their three daughters, getting outdoors, and exploring new places through hiking, camping, biking, skiing, and traveling.

Weโ€™re excited to have Dr. Cziep join our team and bring his experience and passion for rural healthcare to our community!

Teton Valley Health Care just re-certified as a Level IV trauma center with the State of Idaho EMS TSE (Time Sensitive Emergency) System. The Idaho Time Sensitive Emergency (TSE) System was created to address the top three preventable causes of death: trauma, stroke, and heart attack (a.k.a. STEMI). This is a collaborative approach from all stakeholders throughout the state including hospitals, EMS agencies, public health districts, and the Idaho Military Division.

When a serious injury happens, every minute matters. That's why Teton Valley Health Care is proud to be designated as an

Being a Level IV Trauma Center means Teton Valley Health Care has met rigorous standards established by the State of Idaho to provide prompt, high-quality trauma care close to home.

Our team is specially trained to:

- Rapidly assess and stabilize injured patients
- Provide emergency resuscitation and life-saving treatment
- Coordinate care with higher-level trauma centers when advanced services are needed
- Maintain ongoing trauma education, performance improvement, and emergency preparedness to ensure we're always ready

As a rural Critical Access Hospital, our role is essential. We provide immediate care when every second counts and ensure patients receive the right care, at the right place, at the right time.

Trauma care isn't just about treating injuriesโ€”it's about having a prepared team, proven processes, and strong partnerships that help achieve the best possible outcomes for our community.

We're honored to serve Teton Valley and remain committed to providing safe, high-quality emergency care whenever you need us.

We have received feedback from the community and want to clarify our recommendations for the MMR vaccine.

Teton Valley Health Care is following the guidance and recommendations of Eastern Idaho Public Health regarding measles prevention and vaccination during the current outbreak.

The MMR vaccine is safe and highly effective. One dose provides approximately 93% protection against measles, while two doses provide approximately 97% protection.

Children should continue to receive the MMR vaccine according to the routine immunization schedule, with the first dose administered between 12 and 15 months of age and the second dose between 4 and 6 years of age.

During the current outbreak, infants 6 to 11 months of age may be recommended to receive an early MMR dose based on public health guidance. However, this early dose does not replace the routine two-dose series, and children should still receive their first routine dose at 12โ€“15 months and their second dose at 4โ€“6 years of age.

At this time, Eastern Idaho Public Health is not recommending routine early second MMR doses for children who have already received their first dose.

As the situation continues to evolve, recommendations may change. Teton Valley Health Care will continue to work closely with Eastern Idaho Public Health and follow their guidance to help keep our community informed, protected, and healthy.

Letโ€™s Give Breast Cancer the Boot, July 24th! ๐Ÿค ๐Ÿด

When breast cancer is found early, the 5-year relative survival rate is over 99%. Thatโ€™s why access to mammograms matters. Early detection saves lives, and together we can ride toward a future where everyone has access to the care they need.

At Teton Valley Health Care, weโ€™re proud to support early detection through our Free Mammogram Program, helping remove barriers to lifesaving screenings for members of our community.

We are excited to partner with Teton Valley Rodeo for this yearโ€™s Give Breast Cancer the Boot Rodeo on July 24th at 8:00 PM at the Teton County Fairgrounds in Driggs, ID.

All proceeds from Teton Valley Health Care merchandise sales will directly support women in Teton Valley by helping provide access to vital breast cancer screenings.

So grab your boots, wear your pink, and join us as we lasso hope, strength, and progress. Together, we can Give Breast Cancer the Boot!

Access to healthcare is about more than receiving treatment, it's about recovering with the support of family, friends, and community close by.

โ€œWe have benefited so much from having the hospital and swing bed availability in our community. Being able to be near loved ones while healing from illness or injury can't be overstated. I am so grateful to be able to continue these services and continue to care for those that would otherwise have to leave the valley.โ€
