☀️ THE HEAT IS HERE... AND NOT EVERYONE HAS A PLACE TO ESCAPE IT. ☀️
Today, many of us will finish work, climb into an air-conditioned vehicle, go home to a cool house, grab a cold drink, and sleep comfortably tonight.
But for many in our homeless community, there is no air conditioning waiting for them.
They are sleeping outside in the Oklahoma heat. They're walking miles under the blazing sun. They're trying to stay hydrated, fight off mosquitoes, and simply make it through another day.
Right now, the biggest needs we're hearing are:
💧 Bottled Water
⚡ Gatorade & Electrolyte Drinks
🦟 Mosquito Repellent
🧴 Sunscreen
🧦 Clean Socks
A simple case of water may seem small, but to someone suffering in the heat, it can be the difference between relief and misery.
If you've ever wanted to help but weren't sure how, this is your opportunity. Every donation—big or small—goes directly toward helping those who are struggling the most.
Please help us continue serving our homeless community and showing them that they have not been forgotten.
❤️ If you can't donate, please SHARE this post. Sometimes a share reaches the person who can help.

❤️ HELP US KEEP HELPING ❤️
For years, BOTG Durant has stepped up for those who have nowhere else to turn. We have helped provide food, water, transportation, IDs, bus tickets, hygiene items, clothing, and other basic necessities to members of our homeless community and people facing difficult times.
The reality is this: we are struggling to continue this mission.
Most people don't see the late-night calls, the rides to appointments, the bus tickets purchased so someone can get to family or a job opportunity, or the countless bottles of water and food bags handed out to people who are hungry and hurting. Much of this has been funded out of our own pockets.
Today, we are asking our community for help.
We are currently seeking donations to purchase: 💧 Bottled Water
⚡ Gatorade and electrolyte drinks
🥫 Non-perishable food items
🧼 Hygiene products
🧦 Socks and basic survival necessities
🚌 Bus tickets and transportation assistance
🪪 Assistance obtaining identification documents
No donation is too small. A few dollars can provide a meal, a bottle of water during the Oklahoma heat, or help someone take a step toward getting back on their feet.
If you believe in helping people when they need it most, please consider donating and sharing this post. Together, we can continue being a light in someone's darkest moment.

Ever wonder why we stand for our flag, or why we have a 3-day weekend?

Ryan wasn’t just a friend. He was a father, husband, brother, son, and the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back. He could light up any room the moment he walked in. Ryan was the 12th serviceman killed in Afghanistan in 2019, and this one shook our hometown hard. It happened during a time of peace talks, which made it even harder to understand. Ryan was loved by everybody who knew him.

He gave his life defending this country doing what he loved — fighting for his country and, as he would say, “destroying our nation’s enemies.” He was honest, respectful, fearless, and proud to serve.

The last time I saw Ryan was in Mexia before Kori was born. I gave him my bracelet and necklace and told him I wanted them back when he returned from the Middle East. He just smiled — the same smile you see in this picture — and put them on.

Ryan graduated from our hometown in Texas in 1997 and was a friend to everyone he crossed paths with.

In honor of Ryan, and all of our heroes who paid the ultimate sacrifice, I ask y’all to join us in lowering our state and American flags to half-staff for the true American heroes who gave everything defending our freedom.

Rest in Peace, Ryan Sartor.
Until we meet again… gone, but never forgotten.

We’re currently operating at full capacity and doing everything we can with what we have. Right now, we have 7 people without shelter and only 1 tent available, which is going to a young man whose car recently broke down and left him stranded. I’m picking him up shortly from the motel and taking him to one of our drop locations so he can get it.
We are also in urgent need of supplies, especially:
Bottled water
Gatorade / electrolytes
Hygiene items
Socks
Tarps
Tents
Blankets
Sleeping bags
If you are in need of a tent, please be patient with us. We are trying to prioritize the most urgent cases first, and we’re working as fast as we can with very limited resources. Most of what we’ve been able to do over the past year has come directly out of pocket. The next tents will go to a young man recently released from prison and his girlfriend who are currently in need of emergency shelter. At this time, we can only provide basic emergency protection, but even a tent can mean staying dry and safe for the night.
We want to sincerely thank everyone who has supported us and dropped off supplies at JJs Wellness. You are the reason we’re able to keep going. If you’re able to help in any way—big or small—it truly makes a difference.

🚨 A 12-year-old battling cancer used his Make-A-Wish… to feed the homeless instead of taking a luxury trip.

Jude Baker was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma, a rare and aggressive bone cancer, and spent months enduring intense chemotherapy. While many kids dream of celebrity meet-and-greets or theme parks, Jude chose something different.

He said he remembered what his own “version of hell” felt like during treatment—and wanted to help people going through their own hard times.

So instead of a vacation, he chose service.

His wish became a community outreach effort that provided hot meals, sleeping bags, and backpacks to over 300 people experiencing homelessness.

What started as one selfless decision moved an entire community. A local business owner even launched a GoFundMe to give Jude and his family the vacation he originally gave up.

Now in remission at 14, Jude continues to inspire others with a simple message: even in your hardest fight, you can still choose kindness.
