Asthma is often discussed as a childhood condition. Maternal health disparities are often discussed as obstetric failures.

But what happens when chronic respiratory illness and Black maternal health intersect?

Our founder recently published a research essay examining how environmental injustice, redlining, socioeconomic barriers, and provider education gaps compound risk for Black pregnant women with asthma.

If we are serious about reducing preventable maternal morbidity and mortality, chronic illness management must be part of the conversation.

Clarity regarding public health matters and maternal/infant health depends on it.

There’s been a lot of confusion online over the past few days about a CDC webpage update related to autism and vaccines. Moments like this remind us how essential clear, consistent communication is for parents and families especially Black mothers who already face barriers to trustworthy health information.

It's RSV awareness time! If you’re pregnant, especially between 32 and 36 weeks, contact your OB/midwife about the RSV vaccine. Ask about how this vaccine can protect your baby during their first RSV season.
