The way modern deliverance culture is set up, you’d think freedom comes with a monthly billing cycle.

If you struggle with anxiety? That’s a demon.
Have a disagreement? Demon of division.
Tired? Spirit of exhaustion.
Set a boundary? Spirit of rebellion.

And the solution is always the exact same: another conference ticket, another altar call, another guest speaker screaming into a microphone to cast out what Jesus supposedly missed.

It turns the finished work of Christ into a free trial, and their ministry into the paid subscription you have to keep renewing.

Colossians 1:13-14 says He HAS delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Past tense. Settled. Paid in full.

You don’t need an ongoing deliverance subscription. You have Christ.

Comment ROOTS for the guide on untangling from performance-based church culture.

Slain in the spirit on sunday, cast out demons on monday?

In the charismatic church, you can be prayed for on sunday morning, fall out on the carpet, get covered with a modesty cloth, and lay there for forty minutes because the presence of god is so heavy.

Then by the revival service on tuesday, the guest speaker calls you to the front and tells you that you have a demon of rejection, an ancestral curse, and a spirit of fear that needs to be screamed out of you.

Think about the contradiction for one second.

How can a believer be so filled with the holy spirit that they literally get knocked off their feet, but still be an open house for demons?

They teach you that you walk in higher-level power, but then treat you like you need an ongoing weekly exorcism subscription to stay clean.

Second Corinthians 6:16 asks: what agreement has the temple of God with idols?

The Holy Spirit does not cohabit with demons. Jesus did not buy you with his blood on the cross just to leave room for squatters.

If you have christ, you don’t need another altar call to get delivered. You are already his.

In high-control churches and Christian guru spaces, there is immense pressure to commodify your suffering.

You’re told that your pain only has purpose if you turn it into a stage testimony, a kingdom blueprint, or a 7-figure brand.

“Your mess is your message.”
“God broke you so He could use you.”

At first, it sounds redemptive. But beneath the surface, it teaches women that God is transactional - that He only cares about your wounds if they can produce revenue, influence, or platform authority.

It forces women to rush past genuine grief and quiet healing just so they can package their scars for an audience.

Here is the truth:

God does not require you to monetize your trauma for your life to matter.

Your pain mattered to Jesus before it ever became a story you told anyone else.

He didn’t need you to be wounded to give you purpose. You have purpose because He created you, and your standing is secure because Christ redeemed you on the cross.

You don’t have to build an empire out of your heartbreak to prove God is good.

You are allowed to heal quietly. You are allowed to live a faithful, ordinary life. You are allowed to rest in Christ without performing your breakthrough.

If you’re ready to step off the performance wheel and build unshakeable, biblically grounded roots, comment ROOTS and I’ll send you our free guide.

This is where I think we need to slow down.

Because I’m not talking about a Christian woman learning about trauma or understanding how her body responds to stress.

That isn’t the issue.

The issue is what happens when psychological language, self-help language, and spiritual language are woven together into a formula for obtaining the life God supposedly has waiting for you.

You’re told that your life is stuck because you haven’t healed enough.
Your breakthrough is delayed because you haven’t regulated enough.
Your purpose hasn’t manifested because you have an internal block.
Your finances aren’t changing because you have an abundance mindset problem.

And the solution?
More work on you.
More healing.
More courses.
More coaching.
More investing.
More techniques.
More “unlocking.”

And because Jesus is mentioned throughout the process, it can feel biblical.

But ask yourself something uncomfortable:
What is this teaching telling me I must accomplish before I can finally experience what God has promised?

Because the gospel doesn’t present Christ as the one who cheers you on while you save yourself.

Christ is the Savior.

We don’t work our way into justification.
We don’t heal ourselves into God’s acceptance.
We don’t manifest our identity.
We don’t unlock our worth.
We don’t perform our way into being loved by God.

Our sanctification is real. Growth is real. Wisdom matters. Our bodies matter. Our choices matter.

But none of those things become the foundation of our acceptance before God.

That foundation is Christ.

And this is why Christian guru culture can be so spiritually confusing.
It doesn’t necessarily tell you to reject Jesus.
It can teach you to keep Jesus - and put yourself in the driver’s seat.

That’s the swap I want us to learn to recognize.

So before you buy the next blueprint, enroll in the next program, or believe you have another spiritual or psychological “block” keeping you from God’s best -

stop and ask:
Who is actually doing the saving here?

Because if the answer keeps coming back to me...
I need to untangle that.

The belief that you possess the power within yourself to create your reality, discern your spiritual destiny, or obligate God to perform for you.

It is New Age self-empowerment and the Law of Attraction, packaged with Bible verses and sold to Christian women.

Christian women gurus have turned “finding your calling” into a high-ticket business model. They sell manifestation blueprints, vision board formulas, and “prophetic activations” dressed up in church clothes.

They tell you that if you just unlock the power inside you, decree the breakthrough, or buy their kingdom blueprint, God owes you success.

And when the formula fails?
The blame always falls right back on you.
“Your mindset was blocked.”
“Your faith was too small.”
“You didn’t sow enough.”

It turns faith into a transaction and God into a cosmic business coach.

God did not call you to manifest an empire or manipulate spiritual laws. He called you to open His Word, rest in the finished work of Christ, and walk in faithful obedience right where you are.

This is the start of a brand new series exposing the lies Christian women are sold about purpose, calling, and spiritual hustle.

Drop a comment or DM me REST if you are ready to put down the hustle and get grounded in sound biblical truth.

There is an entire industry selling Christian women a version of “purpose” that sounds biblical—but isn’t.

“Unlock your destiny.”
“Activate your calling.”
“Manifest your breakthrough.”
“Step into the power within you.”

It sounds Christian because they sprinkle Bible verses over it.

But underneath it is the message that you have the power within yourself to create your reality, unlock your destiny, and make God perform according to your formula.

That isn’t biblical Christianity.

You don’t need a guru to unlock what God supposedly hid inside you.

You need the Word of God.

You don’t need a manifestation formula.

You need Christ.

And when someone sells you a formula that promises the life you want—then blames your mindset or faith when it doesn’t happen—that should make you stop and ask some serious questions.

This series is about exposing the Christian women’s guru industry that has repackaged self-help and self-empowerment as biblical “purpose.”

Christian language does not automatically make a message Christian.

Test everything by Scripture.

Ten posts barely scratch the surface. The theological errors, twisted scriptures, and spiritual abuse in these movements could fill an endless list.

Dozens of other teachings, false prophecies, and control tactics broke women down in those rooms.

As we turn the page, my focus shifts forward.

Through Life Anchor Center, I want to give weary women a place to rest in Christ, learn sound biblical doctrine, and finally drop the religious performance that kept us exhausted.

That does not mean we are putting our heads in the sand.

When a charismatic trend blows up online, a prophetic scandal hits the news, or strange teachings pop up, we will bring them into the light and test them against Scripture. We will name the errors as they come up.

At the same time, I refuse to build a whole life around reacting to what false teachers are doing.

The real work is learning the character of God from His word, untangling religious guilt, and finding peace that does not depend on our emotional output.

I am sitting here tonight with my notes, a fresh notebook for what comes next, and quiet relief that I no longer have to chase the next spiritual high.

#10: believing that walking away from the charismatic church meant walking away from god.

This closes out my series on “10 things the charismatic church taught me that I had to unlearn.”

The deepest fear that kept so many of us trapped in those seats was simple: we were convinced that god only lived inside that atmosphere.

We were taught that if we stepped away, questioned a prophet, or walked out the doors, we were grieving the holy spirit and losing our covering, our protection, and our salvation.

So we stayed. we tolerated manipulation, exhaustion, and spiritual control because we loved jesus and genuinely believed that leaving the system meant abandoning him.

The system tied God to manufactured goosebumps, music swells, and endless emotional striving.

When you finally step away from false doctrine, the silence can feel disorienting. But leaving error is not the finish line.

Walking away from what harmed you does not automatically disciple your soul. You need sound doctrine, biblical truth, and the real gospel of grace.

Christ was never trapped inside that room. His presence does not depend on manufactured highs, and his grace does not require you to run yourself into the ground to prove your devotion.

That is where this page is going next.

At Life Anchor Center, we help exhausted christian women open the scriptures, unlearn religious performance and guilt, and finally rest in christ.
