Ms. Tay Tay & Friends for Freedom

Ms. Tay Tay & Friends for Freedom Ms. Tay Tay is a trans woman incarcerated in IDOC fighting for LGBT rights inside & is reaching out for people to help fight on the outside! Tayvia AKA Ms.

"This page is to help raise awareness for the LGBT community incarcerated in IDOC [Illinois Department of Corrections] being treated unfairly & having their rights violated. TayTay is a trans woman incarcerated in IDOC fighting for LGBT rights inside & is reaching out for people to help fight on the outside. She wants to bring to the light all things LGBT offenders endure while incarcerated, such

as living conditions, emotional & psychological stress, physical violence due to not having separate vulnerable wings for trans women in male facilities. Not only is safety a concern, LGBT offenders also lack adequate medical treatment or qualified staff that deals with trans people. The environment is unstable and unsafe. Tayvia is pursuing legal relief to help equalize rights in IDOC for LGBT offenders. Donations will be accepted for legal costs through GoFundMe in the future."

I am a friend of Tayvia's, and she asked me to set up this page for her as we work together for justice for our incarcerated LGBT+ family.

Tay says "It makes me feel like 'now I told y'all we're not just making this up'

It's so bogus." .
Positions of absolute power draw employees that are depraved, malicious, racist and transmisogynistic. I included a message she sent me back in September that specifically complains about the guards and correctional officers mistreating her. Guards have told her "it'll be alright" when she attempts to file a complaint or inform them that she is in danger. .

so much of focuses on death. We have lost more trans people in 2019 than the days marked on our calendars. How can we support the that are still here, fighting every day of their lives? Incarcerated trans people face a struggle that is uniquely harrowing.

🌻Tay will give some direct updates when I speak to her next! But for now, here's some backstory on what she's been dealing with.
🎋We would both be interested to hear from anyone who has had similar experiences with transfers. Do you or your loved ones have thoughts on how transfers are utilized by incarcerated folks, prison admin, or what their effects are?

Stay tuned for updates. Tay has been anticipating this hearing for a while, and said she was nervous but hopeful about today. We can only hope that Chief Judge Nancy J. Rosenstengel rules on the side of justice. This case will determine Tay's survival. .
