Mangos 🥭🥭🥭
We love mangos! They are a staple in our house and my 13yr daughter loves them! I buy them at Costco and if they are still a little green, I keep them in the pantry until they are ripe and ready to eat. It’s a perfect after-school snack for kids and a great mid-day snack for adults (we like them with a little Tajin for spicy kick). They help with insomnia, so you can also eat them before bedtime.😴
Mangos are loaded with so many health benefits and have been proven to possess unique medicinal and nutritional qualities, they are rich in minerals and vitamins A, C, E and B-complex. Mangos are a powerful anti-cancer food and are specifically known to help prevent lung, breast, colon, prostate, blood, and oral cancers. Mangos do wonders for skin health and may prevent skin aging. Mangos are sometimes referred to as the “King of Fruits”, and even though they are very popular in Mexico, they are the national fruit of India, 🇮🇳 and they are mentioned prominently in the old Sanskrit scriptures and literature.📖
In Mexico, 🇲🇽 they are abundant during the rain season. My mom tells me stories that even when not having a whole lot of money to buy and prepare food, she would take us kids to the mango orchards in Sinaloa, where she would pay a small fee and we would have all day to eat mangos until we were fat and happy and take bags home filled with mangos to last us for days. Although I don’t remember a whole lot of my life in Mexico, I do know that I was always well fed, even if it was only mangos we had to eat.
