Five years ago, the Joyful Crew took on a Mud Run together. We all arrived at that starting line from different seasons of life, with different abilities, strengths, and challenges. Almost immediately, we naturally paired up with those whose pace and needs matched our own.
What none of us expected was the extreme cold, rain, and endless mud waiting for us on that 20-obstacle course. And if you know me, you know mud has never been my friend!
There were moments when we slipped, struggled, laughed, encouraged one another, and had to pivot when things didn’t go as planned. Some of us moved quickly. Some took a little longer. But every single one of us kept going.
We didn’t cross the finish line at the same time, but we all crossed it nonetheless.
Life is a lot like that mud run. We are all running our own race at different paces.
Sometimes the path gets messy, cold, uncomfortable, and nothing like we expected. The key is learning to pivot, adapt, and keep moving forward.
Don’t compare your pace to someone else’s. Just keep taking the next step. Your finish line is still yours to cross.
