This past week, Eglin Family Medicine Residency faculty and residents attended the Uniformed Services Academy of Family Physicians (USAFP) 2023 Conference in Orlando, FL. It was co-chaired by our very own Dr. Lauters and Dr. Garcia. Our team gave podium talks, presented posters, and earned some recognition for our contributions. BIG congratulations to:

As part of our Complementary Alternative Medicine Clinic, residents have been bringing their skills in osteopathic manipulative therapy and acupuncture to Eglin Security Forces and the Flight Line!

On 10 June 2022, Eglin Family Medicine Residency hosted the 1st Annual Southeast Regional Scholarship Symposium. Our theme this year was “Re-engage – Recharge – Research." Participants from multiple specialties and institutions presented scholarly work on a variety of topics including pediatrics, dental health, and medical education. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. John Fogarty, Dean of the Florida State University College of Medicine. Thank you to all who coordinated and participated!

Each year, Eglin residents are offered a chance to participate in a 200-hour course to learn acupuncture techniques that treat a variety of conditions to include pain, stress, insomnia, and PTSD. They were recently featured demonstrating their skills on the Eglin Air Force Base website!

96th Medical Group Airmen hone their acupuncture skills.

Yesterday our PGY-2s and 3s visited Eglin's Intrepid Spirit Center, a facility dedicated to post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury, and associated conditions in active-duty service members. Thanks to the ICS for letting the residents try out the neurovestibular rehab machines!
