Our residents had some very special friends at Elizabeth City Health & Rehabilitation as the petting zoo came to visit! From gentle animals and sweet interactions to plenty of smiles and laughter, it was a wonderful day filled with moments our residents could truly enjoy. 💙

Experiences like these are about so much more than having fun. They provide opportunities for connection, sensory stimulation, reminiscing, and meaningful engagement, all while bringing a little piece of the outdoors right to our residents.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this special day possible! We think it’s safe to say our furry visitors were a BIG hit! 🐑🐴🐐

Elizabeth City Health & Rehabilitation had the privilege of celebrating the 2026 Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) Class from the College of The Albemarle during their Nursing Commencement Ceremony.

One of the most meaningful moments of the evening was the Lighting Ceremony, a cherished nursing tradition that traces its roots to the Crimean War of the 1850s. Inspired by Florence Nightingale (known around the world as “The Lady with the Lamp”), the lamp became a symbol of hope, compassion, and unwavering dedication as she walked the halls caring for wounded soldiers through the night. Her legacy continues to remind every nurse that their light represents service, healing, and the promise to care for others with excellence and empathy.

Our staff and residents are incredibly proud of the 2026 Licensed Practical Nursing graduates as they begin this remarkable journey. Your hard work, perseverance, and commitment to caring for others have brought you to this milestone, and we know your compassion will make a lasting impact on every life you touch.

Today, we proudly celebrate 250 years of American independence. A milestone that honors the courage, sacrifice, and enduring spirit that have shaped our nation since 1776.

As we reflect on this historic anniversary, we are especially grateful for the veterans, service members, first responders, healthcare professionals, and all those who continue to serve our communities with dedication and compassion.

On Monday, our team came together to recognize Aphasia Awareness Day by participating in an interactive learning activity focused on understanding aphasia and the individuals who live with it every day.

Staff members answered educational questions, learned more about the effects of aphasia, and discovered meaningful ways to communicate with and better serve our residents. Every conversation and every lesson help us create a more compassionate, patient, and understanding environment.

At Elizabeth City Health & Rehabilitation, we believe that education strengthens the care we provide. By learning together, we grow together, and that brings us closer as a community dedicated to ensuring every resident feels heard, valued, and supported.
