Movement doesn't always have to be intense to be healthy.

This week's Healthy Made Easy post reminded me of something I often tell patients: rest and recovery are just as important as activity.

In this month's Chiropractic newsletter, we'll be exploring the role that rest, calm, and recovery play in helping your body heal and function at its best.

Enjoy the article below!

And I'd love to hear what's restful and refreshing to you in the comments below.

If I tell you that I went kayaking...
..don't picture me with a sweatband on, huffing and puffing around the lake, watching my time and checking my calorie count.

Instead, picture me paddling for a while... stopping to smell the breeze, listening to the ripples tapping against the front of my kayak, and then rolling over the side into the cool water for a swim.

So... is this exercise?

Absolutely.

No, it's not a HIIT workout. I'm not lifting weights and trying to increase my bone density.

But this kind of movement matters too.

I'm the first one to tell you that thirty minutes a day of activity that gets your heart rate up is important. But I also believe that time spent moving your body, being outside, breathing deeply, and giving your mind a chance to rest is an important part of good health.

Not every healthy choice has to leave you sweaty and exhausted.

Sometimes wellness looks like slowing down, enjoying fresh air, and doing something that refreshes both your body and your mind.

I'll save the sweat for my Fitness Blender workouts...
..and happily enjoy the deep breaths, cool water, and beauty of kayaking.

If you're not already subscribed to the free Healthy Made Easy monthly newsletter, I'd love to have you join us! Each month we explore practical ways to care for your heart, home, mind, and body.

Did you know the Leaning Tower of Pisa wasn't supposed to lean?

Construction began in 1173, but the tower started tilting almost immediately because it was built on a soft, unstable foundation. Over the centuries, engineers worked tirelessly to stabilize it. The tower still leans today, but thanks to modern engineering, it's now considered stable.

The lesson?

A weak foundation affects everything built on top of it.

Our bodies work much the same way.

Your feet are the foundation for your ankles, knees, hips, pelvis, and spine. If that foundation isn't well supported, your body may have to compensate with every step you take.

Sometimes that shows up as tired, achy feet. Other times it contributes to knee discomfort, hip pain, low back pain, or simply feeling "out of alignment."

As a chiropractor, one of my goals is to help your body move the way it was designed to move. But if the foundation underneath you continues to place stress on your body with every step, it can make it harder to maintain the improvements we're working to achieve.

That doesn't mean everyone needs custom orthotics. But when foot mechanics are part of the problem, supporting your foundation can help your body function more efficiently from the ground up.

After all... even the Leaning Tower of Pisa reminds us that foundations matter. 😊

If you've ever wondered whether custom orthotics might be helpful for you, I'd be happy to answer your questions or perform a simple foot exam.

What a wonderful day at 7-11 Days!

One of my favorite parts of practicing chiropractic is getting out into the community and meeting people face-to-face. It was such a pleasure talking with so many of you about your health, answering questions, and sharing what chiropractic care can do.

Community events like this remind me that health isn't just about feeling better -- it's about helping our neighbors live the lives they want to live.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the booth, said hello, picked up raffle tickets, or scheduled an appointment. I truly enjoyed meeting each of you!

And a big thank you to Lisa for the canopy and Mark, Will, and Emma for putting it up. Truly great neighbors.
And a shout out to the best Karen shirt I've ever seen (check out the pictures!).

I'm grateful to be part of such a caring community, and I'm already looking forward to next year's celebration. Thank your Lisa and Karen for all your hard work!

When we think about posture, most of us think about our neck or back.

But what if the problem starts lower?

If your feet roll inward (pronation) or outward (supination), every step sends those changes up through your ankles, knees, hips, pelvis, and even your spine.

That doesn't mean everyone needs orthotics.

It does mean your feet deserve to be part of the conversation—especially if you're dealing with recurring knee pain, hip pain, back pain, or if your adjustments just don't seem to hold as long as we'd like.

As a chiropractor, I look at the whole picture. Sometimes the best way to help the spine is to start with the foundation underneath it.

Have you ever been told you overpronate or have high arches? I'd love to hear your experience!

Most people think foot pain is just a foot problem.

But it’s not.

Your feet are your foundation, and when that foundation collapses, it sends shockwaves up your entire body.

If your foot rolls in (pronation), your hip drops forward. If your foot rolls out (supination), your weight shifts to the outside edge. In both cases, your pelvis twists, your spine compensates, your neck strains, and you start to live in dysfunction without realizing it.

But when the foot is weak or poorly coordinated, your nervous system stops trusting it.
This creates a cascade of problems throughout your kinetic chain.

The solution isn’t stretching or strengthening individual muscles.

It’s retraining your body’s control system to send clear signals again.

The only real fix is to retrain the sensory system in your foot so your brain starts trusting your foundation again.
That means improving proprioception not bracing it with rigid arch supports that make the problem worse.

That’s why I created the Foot Mechanics and Gait Cycle, to help you reverse this collapse at the source by teaching you how to wake up dormant systems and rebuild stability from the ground up https://posturepro.co/products/foot-mechanics-and-gait-cycle?ch=fb
