rest shouldn’t require everyone else to be taken care of first.

it also shouldn’t be crammed into a 1 hour nap window or at the ass crack of dawn.

the truth is, it might inconvenience others. And how do we become okay with that?

Watching a mother’s diary entries get read aloud in a courtroom is doing something to all of us. So let’s be clear about what’s normal and what actually needs support.

Overwhelmed, exhausted, touched-out, “I want to run away” that’s not a red flag. That’s motherhood without enough support.

But if the thoughts feel scary, intrusive, or unlike you..that’s not a character flaw either. That’s a reason to talk to someone who’s actually trained in this.

How to find that person:
→ Postpartum Support International - free helpline 1-800-944-4773 (call or text), plus a directory of PMH-C certified providers at postpartum.net
→ Look for “PMH-C” after a therapist’s name. It means perinatal-specific training, not just general practice.
→ Ask your OB or midwife for a warm referral - and if they brush you off, ask again or ask a trusted friend or family member.

You don’t have to be in crisis to deserve help. 🤍
