As everyone settles into a new school routine, it's easy for healthy habits to take a back seat. A few simple routines can help your whole family stay healthy, focused, and energized throughout the school year.
💤 Prioritize sleep
• Ages 6–12: 9–12 hours each night
• Ages 13–18: 8–10 hours
• Adults: At least 7 hours
💧 Stay hydrated
Encourage kids to carry a reusable water bottle and drink water throughout the day. Even mild dehydration can affect focus, energy, and mood.
🍎 Start the day with breakfast
A balanced breakfast that includes protein and fiber can help improve concentration and provide lasting energy for the school day.
🚶 Make time to move
Children and teens should aim for at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day. Adults should strive for 150 minutes of moderate physical activity each week.
🧠 Check in on mental health
New schedules, teachers, and responsibilities can be stressful. Keep an eye out for changes in sleep, mood, appetite, or behavior, and create opportunities for open conversations.
