Thank you for visiting our booth and having a conversation with us!

Last month we had the opportunity to be a vendor at the 2026 Aging Well Expo at the Evanston Levy Senior Center for the second year in a row!

Much like last year, we wanted to discuss topics that our visitors could benefit from and learn something new. This year we provided further details about flameless cremation, A.K.A cremation by water. That’s right, cremation by water! Flameless cremation was a new concept to many of those who stopped by and it was a pleasure providing additional information to those who were interested in learning more.

It was great seeing familiar faces and meeting new families, friends, and Evanston community members.

To the mothers that have lost children, the children that have lost their mother, the partners that have lost their spouse, or anyone that finds this time of year to be challenging,

We won’t tell you we know how you feel, we just want to say; we see you.

Grief can seem like a tattoo you didn’t ask for. A twisted form of art that comes with pain. A detail in your life journey that silently sticks with you no matter where you go. It appears as that ball in your throat some days, a forced smile, the warmth in your cheeks and ears before tears pool in your eyes, reliving one random memory repeatedly throughout the day, or even the slight internal dread during this time of year.

Many people do not know the unspoken signs of grief, or the day-to-day effort put into simply making it through the day. Although Mother’s Day may not feel like a joyous occasion to you, we applaud you for getting out of bed and taking on the day anyway. You are strong, beautiful, resilient, loved, worthy, protected, and seen. Continue taking this journey one day at a time. One day the ball in your throat won’t feel so large, the memories will make you crack a smile, and a new Mother’s Day tradition may begin. You have a village of people that care about you, do not feel ashamed to count on them on any day.

We are here for you, we do care.

A Few weeks ago our director had the opportunity to return to her alma mater, Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC), for the Illinois Funeral Directors Association Annual Convention!

Tyra spent her time catching up with professors and classmates, networking with funeral professionals and vendors, and earning Continued Education (CE) hours covering various industry topics.

Fun fact: Southern Illinois University Carbondale is the only school in Illinois that offers Mortuary Science and Funeral Service as a bachelor of science degree.

**Celebration of life updated below

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Mr. Sidney L. Parker of Joliet, IL. Sidney leaves behind his wife of over 50 years, children, grandchildren, siblings, and a host of additional family members and friends to cherish his memory. Please keep those who knew and loved Sidney in your thoughts and prayers during their time of loss.

An obituary will be updated in the upcoming days.

UPDATE: A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, April 27, 2026 from 1pm-3pm at Blackburn-Geigerich-Sonntag Funeral Home located at 1500 Black Road, Joliet, IL 60435.
