Today we recognize Robin L. Baker, MD, Neonatologist and Past President of FNA 👶

Dr. Baker has devoted more than three decades to advancing neonatal care, with a deep commitment to improving outcomes for premature and medically complex infants. His work reflects a belief that the earliest moments of life shape lifelong health, and that families deserve compassionate, thoughtful care during every step of the NICU journey.

As both a clinician and researcher, Dr. Baker has contributed extensively to the understanding of prematurity, respiratory complications, and long-term developmental outcomes.

The NICU journey impacts the entire family, including fathers and partners who are often balancing fear, responsibility, hope, and emotional exhaustion all at once 💙

This March of Dimes (MOD) article, A Dad’s Role in the NICU, highlights the important role dads and partners play in supporting both their baby and their family during a NICU stay. It also acknowledges something many parents need to hear: there is no “right” way to cope with the stress and emotions that come with having a baby in intensive care.

From helping communicate with the NICU team to providing emotional support at home and bonding through skin-to-skin care, fathers and partners are an essential part of the NICU care journey.
