Some people come into your life through work, but somewhere along the way, they become family. Alan was that person for me. ❤️

For three years, I had the privilege of being Alan’s caregiver, but the word “caregiver” could never fully describe what he meant to me. I absolutely loved him. I cared for him, worried about him, advocated for him, and protected him just as I would someone in my own family.

Over those three years, there were so many moments, conversations, laughs, routines, and memories that I will carry with me forever. When you spend that much time caring for someone, they become a part of your heart—and Alan will always have a place in mine.

One of the greatest gifts of caregiving is being trusted with someone during a vulnerable chapter of their life. Alan and his family trusted me with that responsibility, and it is something I will forever be grateful for. It was an honor to care for him, but even more than that, it was an honor to know and love him.

Saying goodbye is incredibly hard. There is comfort in knowing that Alan was surrounded by people who loved him and that he is now at peace, but he will be deeply missed.

Rest peacefully, Alan. Thank you for the memories, the laughter, the trust, and for becoming so much more than a client to me. You were family. I will never forget you. ❤️

My heart and prayers remain with his family and everyone who loved him.

I’m sharing his obituary below for those who would like to learn more about Alan’s life and the arrangements to celebrate and honor him.
