Betcha didn’t know your attachment strategy shows up in friendship too!

Remember attachment strategy is a fancy term for the strategies you use to bond in relationship (Research was done by John Bowlby on children bonding with their moms and Philip Shaver on adult attachment bonds).

Usually we talk about attachment strategies to give us a better understanding of couple’s reactive patterns such as: being critical or shutting down. And as a way to understand the core fear: abandonment (for pursuers) and the fear of failure (for withdrawers).

I’m suggesting that attachment strategies even show up in your friendships.

This is helpful in being able to relate to your friends that may have a different attachment strategy than you and have a need that may be harder to understand.

>> Example: Maybe your friend is double or triple texting you to figure out what’s going on.
You think it’s annoying and stop texting back. She becomes even more upset and
calls you several times.

>> Which attachment strategy do you think the friend who is triple texting has?
