Not all berberine supplements are created equal.

When our pharmacists recommend a supplement, they look beyond the label to ingredient quality, formulation, and manufacturer standards. See why Thorne Berberine made this week's Pharmacist Pick.

Promising News from the FDA's Peptide Review

The FDA's Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee (PCAC) has concluded its two-day meeting, recommending six of the seven peptides reviewed for potential inclusion on the 503A Bulks List.

The committee voted in favor of:
• BPC-157
• KPV
• TB-500
• MOTS-c
• Semax
• Epitalon

The committee did not recommend Emideltide (DSIP).

These recommendations are an encouraging step forward for patients, healthcare providers, and compounding pharmacies. While the votes are not the FDA's final decision and do not mean these peptides are FDA-approved or immediately available for compounding, they move the review process forward.

If the FDA ultimately adds these peptides to the 503A Bulks List, Massey Drugs looks forward to providing high-quality compounded preparations to help meet the individualized needs of patients, as permitted by law.

We'll continue following the FDA's review process and share updates as decisions are made.

Today's Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee (PCAC) meeting marked an important milestone for BPC-157, a peptide that has received growing attention in recent years.

The Committee voted to recommend BPC-157 (free base and acetate) for inclusion on the list of bulk drug substances that may be used by 503A compounding pharmacies.

It's important to note that this is not an FDA approval or authorization to compound BPC-157. The Committee's vote is a recommendation only. The FDA will now review that recommendation and continue its formal rulemaking process before making a final decision.

We'll continue following the process and share updates as they become available.

Massey Drugs, a 503A compounding pharmacy, is looking forward to the FDA's Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee (PCAC) meeting scheduled for July 23-24. The PCAC will discuss several peptides, including BPC-157, TB-500, KPV, MOTS-C, Semax, Epitalon, and Emideltide (DSIP).

This meeting is an important step in the FDA's review process and could help shape the future of peptide compounding by licensed 503A pharmacies. If you'd like to follow the meeting, register for updates or watch the proceedings live, see the link in the comments below.

Our team will be following the meeting closely and looks forward to learning more as the review process continues.

While we wait for more clarity on peptide compounding, there are still personalized longevity therapies available today.

From Sermorelin and NAD+ to Low-Dose Naltrexone, Rapamycin, Methylene Blue, and Vitamin B-12, compounded medications may offer individualized treatment options to support healthy aging, energy, recovery, and overall wellness when prescribed by your healthcare provider.

Learn more about our longevity and wellness compounds at the link in the comments.

Important: Compounded medications require a prescription from a licensed healthcare provider. The FDA does not review compounded medications for safety or effectiveness. Instead, compounding pharmacies are regulated by their state boards of pharmacy and must comply with state and federal pharmacy laws, as well as rigorous quality and sterile compounding standards. Compounded medications are prepared to meet the unique needs of individual patients when commercially available medications are not appropriate.
