There's a false choice a lot of people accept without noticing: a company is either for-profit or it has a heart to serve.
Before starting this, Will spent years running a school for disabled children. Pure charity is beautiful. It's also brutally hard to keep afloat. That experience made one thing clear. The real answer isn't one or the other. It's a hybrid.

Before we ever launched a product, we spent a couple of days in a retreat asking two questions: who are we? What do we want to accomplish?
The answer became a filter for everything that came next. If we get even a hint that someone we're considering working with is in it for the money, we don't do business with them. You can't take it with you, as they say. And you can't build something that actually helps families if the people building it are focused on something else.
There's a line from Batman that sums the whole thing up: It's not who we are underneath, but what we do that defines us.
That's the standard we hold ourselves to. That's the standard we hope you hold us to.

We have spent decades measuring children's intelligence with tests. Meanwhile, the most important cognitive development of their lives has been happening on the floor, with blocks and toy cars, completely unobserved.

Sorting shapes is not busywork. It is the brain building the framework it will use to understand mathematics, language, and science. A tower that falls is not a failure. It is a praxis session — the brain logging what did not work and reorganizing its approach. Pattern recognition does not start in a classroom. It starts the moment a child notices that the round piece does not fit the square hole.

None of this shows up on a test score. All of it determines whether a child can eventually think independently, adapt under pressure, and master genuinely new challenges.
The floor is a laboratory. The toys are the equipment. Your child is already running the experiments.

Every time a child draws, three brain regions fire at once: visual processing, motor planning, and executive function. That is not art class. That is neurology in motion. And the progression of those drawings — from loose scribbles to a closed circle to recognizable shapes — tells you exactly how the brain is maturing, often before any formal assessment would catch it.

"Go play" is one of the most powerful things you can say to a child. But most of us undercut it thirty seconds later without realizing it.
We interrupt. We redirect. We offer help before it's needed. And every time we do, we short-circuit a neurological process that was quietly building something important.
Deep play does not look productive from the outside. A child staring at a toy, still and absorbed, is not doing nothing. That is peak brain activity. That is the cycle doing exactly what it is supposed to do. When we break it, we teach the child's brain to expect interruption instead of completion, and we rob them of the self-regulation, closure, and initiation skills that only come from finishing a cycle on their own terms.
Your presence matters. Your silence matters more than you think.

When a child struggles to learn something new, the instinct is to wonder if they are smart enough. That is almost never the right question.

The right question is: how is their praxis?

Praxis is the neurological ability to plan, sequence, and execute a new action. It has nothing to do with intelligence.
