There's a moment every parent and teacher knows: you've explained something, and the child still can't do it on their own. And the temptation is to either push harder or pull back entirely.
Here's what 31 years of working with children taught me: both of those responses miss the mark.
The right move is to go in with them. Support the attempt. Hold the skill in place while their body and brain build the capacity to hold it themselves. Even if they can't do it independently yet, the supported repetition is doing exactly what it needs to do. It's getting them closer.
Throwing a child into the deep end before they can swim doesn't teach swimming. It teaches fear. Real skill development looks very different from that.

Happiness comes from appreciating simple things. Being able to walk in and do something the way everyone else does it. That kind of moment is why this company exists.

There's a false choice a lot of people accept without noticing: a company is either for-profit or it has a heart to serve.
Before starting this, Will spent years running a school for disabled children. Pure charity is beautiful. It's also brutally hard to keep afloat. That experience made one thing clear. The real answer isn't one or the other. It's a hybrid.
That's why we're a for-profit company that gives away free resources. Downloadable coloring sheets today. More resources and free education on our channel over time. You shouldn't have to pay to learn from us. That's the point of also being here to serve.
Save this for anyone still stuck in the either/or.

Before we ever launched a product, we spent a couple of days in a retreat asking two questions: who are we? What do we want to accomplish?
The answer became a filter for everything that came next. If we get even a hint that someone we're considering working with is in it for the money, we don't do business with them. You can't take it with you, as they say. And you can't build something that actually helps families if the people building it are focused on something else.
There's a line from Batman that sums the whole thing up: It's not who we are underneath, but what we do that defines us.
That's the standard we hold ourselves to. That's the standard we hope you hold us to.
