✨We Specialize In Therapy For Neurodiverse Couples✨

The difference between the way the two of you engage with the world has been making it harder and harder for the two of you to connect. The way your partner behaves or communicates leaves you feeling uncared for and ignored.

The differences between you are making it difficult to receive the love and understanding that each of you deserves in your relationship.

Sometimes it is so hard to see the other’s point of view and understand where your partner is coming from.

Couples counseling with a therapist who understands neurodivergence can help you to get back on the same page, to help you understand each other's needs, and to learn to communicate in a way that leaves both of you feeling heard.
Soul Journey Therapy

Soul Journey Therapy provides couples therapy for affair recovery, trauma healing, and reconnection. Rebuild the connection with your partner after an affair or when you have grown apart.

"Trauma is a fact of life. It does not, however, have to be a life sentence." — Peter Levine, PhD

By Heather Norton Moss,

At Soul Journey Therapy, we have witnessed the remarkable resilience of the human spirit, even in the midst of profound pain and adversity.

Trauma is not simply the story of what happened. It is also held in emotions, body sensations, images, beliefs, and survival responses.

This is why so many people find themselves trapped in a painful mind-body disconnect, saying:

"I know I'm safe, but I don't feel safe."

"I've talked about this for years, but I still panic."

Maybe you've spent years talking about your childhood, understanding your triggers, reading self-help books, or learning coping skills. You know what happened. You understand why you react the way you do.

And yet…

Your body still startles when reminded of past hurts or trauma.

You still feel anxious, or panic washes over you without warning.

Relationships still feel hard, disconnected, heavy, and exhausting.

Shame still whispers that you're not enough.

Certain memories, sounds, smells, or situations continue to trigger overwhelming emotions and physical sensations.

You find yourself wondering:

"Why do I understand it, but I still can't seem to move past it?"

If this sounds familiar, please know this:

You are not broken.

You are not failing.

And you are not "too damaged."

🙏For many people living with PTSD or Complex PTSD (C-PTSD), insight and talk therapy alone are simply not enough to heal an overwhelmed nervous system.

💞What if what appears as defiance is actually a child experiencing overwhelm? This blog explores a nervous system–informed, co-regulation approach to parenting and therapy, with a focus on Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), reframed as a persistent drive for autonomy.
💞Recognizing that the nervous system is shaped through lived experience and strengthened first through co-regulation, this perspective shifts from control to connection—supporting safety and agency while leading to reduced conflict, stronger emotional regulation, safe attachment, and more sustainable, trust-based cooperation.

What looks like defiance is often a response to overwhelm. Explore co-regulating parenting and how to support a child's nervous system and need for autonomy.
