🦼🛠️❤️‍🩹 Hey Fort Valley / Peach County! We have received a request from a very sweet lady looking for assistance with a wheelchair ramp. We are looking for local contractors who would be interested in providing us a quote so that we can fundraise then get her on your schedule, or any local churches or agencies with a ramp ministry that may be able to help us out. 📌 Location: back door w/ 4 steps and a small area where the washing machine is located. She is unable to get through with her walker, so when family functions are here she is stuck just looking out the window. She confided in us how depressing it is to watch her life go by through a window. Front porch is the same, but there are a lot of tree roots on top of the grass. She is open to using either door and will go with what the contractor feels is best and safest.

📌 Medical/Safety Necessity: I have to pay people to help me out of my house into cars or medical transport. I recently had 2 back surgeries back to back. I went in for one then had to have another which they went through my ribs to add more hardware to what I already have. I wear a back/torso brace anytime I have to stand or move. I also now need knee braces and a thumb brace because I’m a high fall risk and have had multiple recent falls. My right thumb is fractured and I’m right handed so can’t hold a cane but for a few minutes. I have a torn rotator cuff and a cane makes pain worsen being it’s my right shoulder. I also have a loop recorder in my heart and a monitor for that. Im in constant pain and my blood pressure and my degenerative disc disease makes it worse. My life is in my bedroom in bed and I feel stuck. It’s a lot on my mom and me paying people just to get me out of house to go to drs app. I’m trying to lose weight, but I had to pick between food, doctor appointments, rides there, and people I have to pay to help me because I’m terrified of falling again. These last 2 falls have taken a lot from me, especially the ability to walk, go take a bath,or get out of bed. My electric chair can’t ride in the house, and we currently can’t get it outside. Any kind of help will be greatly appreciated!!

We have recently received several requests for assistance including 3 wheelchair ramps• A wheelchair for a community member in need• A fall alert device for an elderly/disabled resident

Unfortunately, at this time, we do not have the funds available to fulfill these requests as we do not have any regular financial donors.

As a small local nonprofit, we rely almost entirely on community support. We have applied for several grants including Walmart, Ingles, Bank of Dudley, and several other smaller companies, but have either been denied or are still waiting on decisions.

We are asking our community to help us continue helping others.

Hey Monroe County! We have another sweet family in town in need of a wheelchair ramp. They are home from a recent hospitalization and are newly wheelchair bound. Currently no way to get in and out of the home without being physically carried. Which is dangerous both for them and the person carrying them.

Unfortunately, we do not have any regular financial donors, so we cannot jump to contract someone today. Do we have anyone locally that would be interested in providing us a quote so that we can start fundraising? I do have another picture of the garage, but do not want to post it incase the person can be identified, but will be happy to send it and the families contact info directly to anyone interested in getting us a quote 🙂

Update: someone has volunteered one and pick up is being coordinated. Thank y’all so much for moving so quick to help her!!!

We have someone in need of a knee scooter. Does anyone have one laying around they would be willing to donate?
