Friendships take care, attention, and sometimes a little courage to navigate.
Checking in is one of the ways we show someone that we notice them and care about what they’re carrying. It doesn’t have to mean having the perfect words or starting a big conversation.
Sometimes support looks like asking a thoughtful question. Sometimes it’s the power of recognition like a “I know you’ve had a lot going on lately. How are you holding up?” text. Sometimes it’s sitting beside someone, sharing a meal, or spending time together with openness to whatever they want to share.
Friendship doesn’t require us to fix things for one another. But continuing to notice, reach out, and show up with compassion can mean a lot.
Our relationships shape so much of our lives. If you are looking to grow in this area, therapy can be a space to better understand how we connect, communicate, set boundaries, repair, and care for the people who matter to us. rootandrisecollective.org
