Sometimes the explanation tells us a lot about what happened, but it still doesn’t change the outcome. Enjoy the read and please give me your thoughts. And if you thinks anyone would benefit from this, please share it.

The brain does not wait for facts. It fills the gap immediately, with whatever preserves you.

Consider a chart filled with accurate findings — every number correct, every observation documented, every date exact — that still manages to describe the wrong thing entirely.

I've been working on something for a few years that I haven't talked about publicly.
It started in the OR. Twenty years of making decisions that can't be undone will teach you things about human judgment that no classroom gets to. One of the things it taught me is that the most dangerous errors don't feel like errors. They feel like certainty.
I've been writing a book about that. It's called I Will Not Tell a Lie (To Myself). It's about self-deception — not as a character flaw, but as a structural problem. Why intelligent, well-intentioned people systematically fail to see themselves accurately. And what it actually looks like to fix that.
I'm also starting a newsletter where that argument lives between drafts. First piece goes out Tuesday morning.
If any of this sounds like something you'd want to read, I'd be glad to have you along.
