I ALMOST DIED 21 TIMES. And Iโ€™m finally telling the story.

This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Iโ€™m sharing one of the most personal articles I have ever written.

I am a repeat survivor of domestic violence, and there were 21 times when abuse brought me dangerously close to losing my life. For years, survival meant simply making it through. Today, survival means using my voice, sharing my experience, and helping others understand that domestic violence is about more than what people see from the outside.

My new LinkedIn article, โ€œI Almost Died 21 Times: Why Domestic Violence Month Matters,โ€ explores the reality of surviving abuse, the complexity of healing, the importance of believing survivors, and what it means to rebuild your life after trauma.

Iโ€™m sharing this because someone may be reading this right now and silently asking themselves:

โ€œWill I ever be able to get my life back?โ€

My answer is simple:

There can be life after survival. There can be healing after devastation. There can be purpose after pain.

This is my story.
This is my voice.
And this is why Domestic Violence Awareness Month matters.

Please read, share, and help me amplify this conversation. ๐Ÿ’œ

I survived it. I speak about it. I advocate for those who may not be ready to speak yet. ๐Ÿ’œ
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and as a domestic violence survivor and advocate, Aneta Sproles, Iโ€™m using my voice to educate, empower, and remind survivors that abuse is NOT always physical.
๐Ÿšจ Know the signs of abuse:
โ€ข Physical violence
โ€ข Emotional abuse & manipulation
โ€ข Financial control
โ€ข Isolation from family and friends
โ€ข Digital monitoring & threats
โ€ข Sexual coercion or abuse
โ€ข Gaslighting, intimidation, and constant control
If someone is making you afraid, controlling your choices, your money, your relationships, or your bodyโ€”that is not love. You deserve safety. You deserve freedom. You deserve to live without fear.
๐Ÿ’œ Stand with survivors. Believe them. Support them. Donโ€™t judge them.
If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, call the National Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) or visit the National Domestic Violence Hotline for support and resources.
I am Aneta Sprolesโ€”survivor, advocate, and voice for awareness. My story didnโ€™t end with the abuse. It became part of my purpose.
