This month we celebrate the pillars of family and community — fathers whose stories anchor our family trees, Juneteenth, which marks freedom and resilience for generations, and the Fort Worth History Center, a vital resource that brings those stories into focus. Whether you’re tracing paternal lines, uncovering ancestors who lived through emancipation and Reconstruction, or exploring local records and photographs housed at the Center, every discovery deepens our understanding of identity and legacy. Spend these hotter days indoors and advance your research.

Did you know? Members get digital access to back issues of our Footprints quarterly journal and similar publications.

In just one issue from 1966, I found a transcription of the family bible of the Wiley B. Horton and Pency Sims family from the 1800s, a transcription of a letter addressed to Mr. Newman Obsorn of Paluxy, TX in 1866, and a blurb about Mr. and Mrs. John D. Youngblood celebrating their 66th wedding anniversary in 1965.

What will you find about your family? (Fully searchable surname index coming soon!) To access the back issues of Footprints, login to the Members Only section of our website. If you're not a current member, join or renew to gain access today!

Congratulations, Wedgewood neighborhood! 🎉

✨ IT’S OFFICIAL ✨

🏡 Over the last several years, countless members and volunteers have spent hours surveying homes, researching the history and compiling data on Wedgwood.

📜 This summer we submitted our findings with the Texas Historical Commission and have been awarded our Determination of Eligibility to be considered a Historic District in the National Register of Historic Places!

🤩 Wedgwood is historically significant based on the distinct architecture, master planned nature and is described by the THC as a “massive” midcentury district. What a place to call home!

📍This is just the first step! Now we have been determined as eligible, Wedgwood has a clear path toward a National Register of Historic Places nomination.

For more information on the National Register and maps of the proposed district, look at our website:
