Most guys are taking the wrong supplements for healthy testosterone production. Here are the ones that you should really be taking:

5️⃣ Zinc — direct cofactor for testosterone production. Chronic stress burns through it fast. Start here if you’re low-normal.

4️⃣ Magnesium glycinate — lowers cortisol, improves sleep, indirectly supports T. Most men are deficient and don’t know it.

3️⃣ Vitamin D3 + K2 — not “just a vitamin.” It’s a hormone precursor. Pair with K2 for absorption.

2️⃣ Ashwagandha — multiple RCTs show it lowers cortisol AND raises T in chronically stressed men. Best when cortisol is the real driver.

1️⃣ Tongkat Ali — the one most men have never heard of. Works on free testosterone + SHBG, releasing what your body already makes instead of adding more raw material to a system that can’t use it.

Supplements aren’t the strategy. Understanding why you’re taking them is. 👇

Your testosterone can be "normal" on paper and still be wrecking your energy, your body, your drive.

"Normal" just means you're not the sickest guy in the sample. It was never built to tell you if you're thriving.

Low energy. Brain fog. Belly fat that won't budge. Libido that disappeared. You blame stress. It's usually your hormones, and your labs call it normal anyway.

We don't stop at total testosterone. We check free T, SHBG, estradiol: the stuff that actually tells you the truth.

Your annual physical isn’t protecting you, it’s giving you the feeling of protection.

A standard physical catches disease after it’s already there. A real assessment catches it a decade before, while your trajectory can still change.

One is medicine reacting. The other is medicine getting ahead.

Being labeled “non-compliant” for not wanting a statin is a symptom of a broken system, not a broken patient.

Before I ever hand someone a prescription, I want to know everything else first. What you eat. How you move. What your schedule actually looks like. What you’re willing to do and what you’re not.

Medicine that doesn’t fit your life isn’t medicine. It’s a missed opportunity.

You’re not non-compliant. You just haven’t had a doctor who asked the right questions yet.

You don’t have a hormone problem. You probably have a sleep, stress, light, and connection problem that’s showing up in your hormones.

I hear this all the time: “My doctor said HRT is my only option.” And I get why it feels that way when your labs come back “off,” you’re handed a script and sent home in under 10 minutes. No conversation about why your hormones are imbalanced in the first place.

HRT can absolutely be part of the picture. But it’s not the starting point. It’s one tool among many, and it should never be prescribed without first looking at the whole system: your circadian rhythm, your blood sugar, your cortisol load, your sleep, even your relationships (yes, loneliness raises cortisol the same way a physical threat does).

When I sit down with a new patient, our first appointment is 90 minutes because hormone imbalances are rarely just about hormones. They’re a signal. My job is to find out what’s actually driving the dysfunction before we talk about what to prescribe.

You deserve a doctor who treats the whole picture, not just the lab value.
