Ok. I know it's been a while. Life has happened. It is still happening. But, I have a funny for you (as my dad and grandad used to say).

Recently, I was in session with a 10 yr old and their mom. It was towards the end, and I was talking to Mom about sleep tools.

Kid had checked out while doing an app over geography.

In the middle of mine and mom's conversation, he's on the app and sings, "Walk like an Egyptian!"

Groundbreaking research reveals that emotions are not just psychological experiences happening in your mind but are precise, measurable, physical sensations mapped consistently across the entire human body. This changes everything about how we understand human emotion.

Finnish researchers conducted landmark studies where thousands of participants across different cultures consistently mapped identical emotional responses to the same specific body regions, confirming that anger, love, fear, and joy each activate uniquely distinct physical zones.

Happiness and love generated the most widespread full body activation, while depression and sadness produced a striking reduction in sensation across the limbs, essentially dimming the body's physical experience from the outside inward.

These findings revolutionize mental health treatment, confirming that trauma, anxiety, and emotional pain are genuinely biological and physical conditions stored within body tissues, validating entirely new therapeutic approaches including EFT and Matrix Reimprinting

In 1991, psychologist Elaine Aron at Stony Brook University identified something that changed how we understand human nervous systems.

She called it Sensory Processing Sensitivity and what she found was that roughly 15 to 20 percent of humans are born with a nervous system that processes stimuli more deeply than average. More thoroughly. More completely.
Not more emotionally. More deeply.

She then found the same trait in over 100 other species; fruit flies, fish, birds, primates. In every case, the highly sensitive members of the species showed one consistent pattern: they were better at detecting subtle changes in their environment before others noticed them. They processed more information. They caught things earlier.

In evolutionary terms, this is not a weakness. It's why the trait survived across a hundred species across millions of years.

Here's what that looks like in a human though.

You feel things before other people name them. You walk into a room and know something is off before anyone says anything. You notice the slight shift in someone's tone that everyone else missed.

You process experiences more completely which means the good ones are richer and the hard ones cost more.

And your whole life, some version of "you're too sensitive" was used as a criticism.

But here's the thing.
You weren't too sensitive.
You were operating a more sophisticated system in environments that didn't know what to do with the data you were picking up.

That's not a flaw.

That's been a survival advantage for every species that has it.
The question is just whether you've learned to use it or whether you're still apologizing for it.

I have heard this many times. I heard this from an acquaintance today. "Therapy isn't what I thought it was. I thought it was just sitting around talking. I realized I have a lot to get off my chest."

I told her, "If it was just sitting and talking, everyone would do it."

P.S. The same goes, for like, teachers. Call me crazy. It takes a special person to do it and an even more special person to do it well.
