❤️ A Love Story Etched in Granite ❤️

Today we had the honor of resetting this beautiful memorial for the Morris family at Fairview Cemetery in West Alexandria, Ohio.

When Elaine came to us after losing her beloved husband, Ruie, our goal wasn’t simply to create a monument—it was to tell their story.

Ruie loved the outdoors, peaceful lakes, and his classic Mustang, so together we created a laser-etched scene that reflects the places and moments he loved most. But there is one detail that makes this memorial especially personal…

Ruie had a playful tradition of hiding behind trees, around corners, or behind just about anything to snap candid photos of family and friends. It always brought smiles and laughter.

So we tucked Ruie himself into the tree within the etched landscape.

It’s a subtle little surprise—a hidden tribute that his family can discover each time they visit. We hope every glance at that tree brings back the laughter, the memories, and the joy he brought to those who loved him.

Because the most meaningful memorials don’t just mark a resting place…
They tell a story.

It has been a true privilege to help Elaine honor a life so well lived and a love that will endure forever.

Happy Parent Appreciation Day ❤️

Today we celebrate the people whose love, sacrifice, and example shaped not only our family—but also the heart of Maggard Memorials.

To my parents, Clayton and Linda Maggard… thank you.

You didn’t just start a business—you built a legacy. Through long days, late nights, and countless sacrifices, you founded Maggard Memorials with faith, integrity, and a commitment to serving families with compassion. You poured your hearts into this company, but even more importantly, you poured yourselves into us.

You taught us that every family deserves to be treated like our own, that a handshake still means something, and that serving others is one of life’s greatest callings. The values you instilled continue to guide every memorial we create and every family we have the privilege of serving.

And today, we also honor Sherry Tudor.

Nathan’s mom was one of the strongest women we’ve ever known. She worked countless jobs and made endless sacrifices to ensure her family always had what they needed. Her boys and her grandchildren were her greatest accomplishment and the greatest joy of her life. She loved them fiercely, believed in them completely, and would have done absolutely anything for them.

Although she went home to the Lord in 2018, her love, strength, and unwavering devotion continue to live on through her family. She is missed every day, but her legacy of hard work, selflessness, and unconditional love will never be forgotten.

Today we’re reminded that the greatest inheritance parents leave isn’t measured in money or possessions.

It’s faith.
It’s character.
It’s unconditional love.
It’s the example they set every single day.

To all the parents, grandparents, and those who stepped in to raise and love a child—thank you. Your impact reaches far beyond what you can see.

✨ A One-of-a-Kind Tribute for a One-of-a-Kind Life ✨

Today, we had the honor of setting this custom memorial for the Mobley family at Deerfield Cemetery in South Lebanon, Ohio.

Every life has a story. Some stories deserve more than a traditional monument—they deserve to be experienced.

Designed exclusively for Anna Louise Mobley, this all-polished black granite memorial features a graceful oval opening that cradles a set of wind chimes. As the breeze gently passes through, the chimes create a beautiful reminder that while our loved ones may no longer walk beside us, their presence is still felt in the quiet moments.

The front celebrates Louise, while the reverse honors the many cherished roles she held:

🕊️ The Greatest Love Story 🕊️

Recently, we had the privilege of setting this one-of-a-kind custom laser etched memorial at Sugar Grove Cemetery in Wilmington, Ohio.

Carved from all polished Absolute Black granite, this stacked double-heart design was created to tell a beautiful love story that continues beyond this life.

The custom artwork depicts Jesus’ hands gently holding each heart, symbolizing that even in loss, we are forever held in His loving care. The inscription, “Hand in Hand, Heart in Heart,” perfectly captures a lifetime of love, faith, and devotion.

Every detail of this memorial was thoughtfully designed—from the custom shape and laser-etched portraits to the Scripture and symbolic artwork—creating an eternal tribute that will preserve Roger and Diana’s legacy for generations.

It is an incredible honor to help families transform memories into something permanent… a place where loved ones can gather, remember, and find peace.

Today we had the honor of setting this one-of-a-kind memorial for Zachary Aron Kingrey at Rose Hill Burial Park in Hamilton, Ohio.

Every monument tells a story, and this one beautifully reflects Zachary’s love of music, featuring flowing curves, engraved musical notes, and a stunning laser-etched portrait set against a peaceful heavenly landscape. It is a memorial designed not only to mark a resting place, but to celebrate a life that will never be forgotten.

At Maggard Memorials, we believe every family deserves a monument as unique as the person it honors. Seeing a design move from an idea… to a drawing… to a block of granite… and finally standing in the cemetery is one of the greatest privileges of what we do.

⚾❤️ Three years. Countless memories. Lifelong friendships.

As our journey with this incredible team comes to an end, our hearts are full. We are beyond grateful for the thoughtful gift you gave our family. It means more to us than you’ll ever know.

It has been an absolute honor and privilege for Maggard Memorials to sponsor this amazing group of young athletes over the past three seasons. Watching these boys grow from energetic 7-year-olds into talented, confident 10-year-olds has been something truly special. We’ve celebrated victories, learned through challenges, and watched each player grow not only as a baseball player but as a young man.

To the players—thank you for giving us so many reasons to cheer. Keep working hard, supporting one another, and chasing your dreams.

To the coaches and families—thank you for your dedication, encouragement, and the countless hours you’ve invested in these kids. You’ve built so much more than a baseball team—you’ve built a family.

While we’re sad this chapter is ending, we’ll always look back on these years with grateful hearts. Thank you for allowing us to be a small part of your journey. We will be cheering each and every one of you on wherever life and baseball take you next.

My mind is officially blown. Traces of Texas reader Rusty Wilson kindly sent in this amazing photo of how a 45-ton piece of granite in Llano was moved SIX miles back in 1906. As you can see, they simply bound rounded wooden posts/tree limbs around it, giving it a rolling surface. 90 thousand pounds, folks! Earlier I talked about how impressed I am by how ingenious our ancestors were and this is a great example of that. Necessity really IS the mother of invention. One thing has me puzzled, however: The card reads "This rock is for the Terry Monn." What do y'all reckon the "Terry Monn" is?

🏛️❤️ WHEN A FAMILY HAS A NEED… WE GO TO WORK. ❤️🏛️

Last Thursday, July 2nd, Jessica walked through our doors with one goal…

To honor her beloved mother,
Pamela Adkins Blashock.

Jessica wanted a single gray granite mausoleum, and she needed it FAST.

The search began immediately.

We searched across the country, calling suppliers, checking inventories, coordinating logistics, and finally found the perfect mausoleum she fell in love with.

But finding the mausoleum was only the first step.

The real challenge was everything that had to happen next…

📞 Coordinating delivery from Columbus.
🏗️ Scheduling a crane.
🪨 Working with Rose Hill Cemetery in Mason.
🚚 Coordinating with Ernst Concrete.
👷 Rearranging crews.
📅 Moving schedules.
☀️ Working around the July 4th holiday weekend.

A special thank you to Rose Hill Cemetery, who graciously adjusted their schedule so we could pour the foundation on Monday, July 6, giving the concrete just enough time to cure before installation.

And a huge shout-out to Ernst Concrete for making sure the concrete truck arrived exactly when we needed it.

The family’s wish?

❤️ Have the mausoleum set by Friday, July 10.

That meant…

From the day Jessica walked into our office…
To purchasing the mausoleum…
To locating inventory…
To scheduling transportation…
To coordinating the cemetery…
To pouring the foundation…
To allowing cure time…
To setting the mausoleum…

All within one week… and over the Fourth of July holiday!

🤯 Five working days.

That has to be one of the fastest mausoleum projects we’ve ever completed.

People often see the finished memorial…

They don’t always see the hundreds of phone calls, the planning, the teamwork, the partnerships, and the people behind the scenes who move mountains to make a family’s wishes become reality.

This wasn’t about breaking a record.

It was about honoring a daughter who wanted to celebrate her mother’s life without unnecessary delays.

And that’s exactly what we strive to do every single day.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen—from the suppliers and trucking companies to the cemetery staff, crane operators, Ernst Concrete, and our incredible Maggard Memorials team.

When families need us… we find a way.

There is something incredibly special about container day.

Today, a container filled with beautiful granite from across the world arrived at our yard, and while most people see crates… we see stories waiting to be told. ❤️

Each piece of granite will soon become a lasting tribute to someone deeply loved. It is an honor we never take for granted.

💙 Kingrey Family – An extraordinary asymmetrical memorial crafted from exotic Bahama Blue and Jet Black granite honoring Zachary Aron Kingrey. Bound for Rose Hill Burial Park in Hamilton.

🪑 Ruble Family – A breathtaking deep exotic Bahama Blue granite couch bench, creating a peaceful place for reflection in Oxford, Ohio.

🎶 Mobley Family – A custom wind chime memorial celebrating the beautiful life of Anna Louise Mobley. Every breeze will carry music and memories at Union Cemetery in South Lebanon.

🕊️ Cabanissa Family – A beautiful six-person family columbarium making its journey to Alabama, where generations will be remembered together.

👼 Morales Family – One of our original custom creations… an angel embracing a teardrop, honoring beautiful Anaia Janelle Morales, forever 13 years old. A timeless tribute heading to Baltimore Pike Cemetery in Cincinnati.

🌅 Morris Family – A custom 42” polished black granite memorial featuring a personalized laser-etched scene celebrating “Ruie” and his beloved wife Elaine. Soon to be placed at Fairview Cemetery in West Alexandria.

⚓ Kirkwood Family – Cheryl’s beautiful tribute to her husband Thomas… a timeless 42” polished serpentine memorial featuring a cherished cruise photograph, laser etched with incredible detail and love. Headed to Springboro Cemetery.

Every crate unloaded today represents another family trusting us during one of life’s most difficult seasons.

Now the real work begins.

Over the coming days and weeks, these raw pieces of granite will be transformed through thoughtful design, hand sandblasting, precision laser etching, expert craftsmanship, and countless hours of attention to detail into one-of-a-kind tributes that will stand for generations.
