In addition to the main campus in Franklin, Johnson Memorial Health has expanded to include the Greenwood Primary Care Center, the Whiteland Primary Care Center, Stones Crossing Health Pavilion and the Franklin Immediate Care Center. In 2020, Johnson Memorial Health opened a $47 million dollar outpatient services building in Franklin, the largest construction project in the history of the hospital. The new building features expanded space for lab and imaging services as well as a new emergency department. Johnson Memorial Health has been awarded numerous accolades, including the Women’s Choice Award as one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Emergency Care and consecutive "A" safety grades from the Leapfrog Group.

Today marked the end of an era at Johnson Memorial Health.

Effective June 6, our Maternity Center closed its doors after nearly eight decades of serving families across Johnson County. Since 1947, generations of parents have trusted Johnson Memorial Health to welcome their babies into the world, creating memories that have become woven into the fabric of our community.

This was not a decision we wanted to make. Like many independent community hospitals across Indiana and the nation, we continue to face significant financial challenges driven by inadequate Medicaid reimbursement rates and increasing pressure from insurance companies. These realities have made it increasingly difficult to sustain maternity services despite their importance to our community.

While today is a sad day, it is also a time for gratitude.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the extraordinary nurses, physicians, technicians, and support staff who have cared for mothers and newborns throughout the years. Their compassion, expertise, and dedication helped bring thousands of bundles of joy safely into the world. Their work has touched countless lives and created a legacy that will never be forgotten.

To all the families who allowed us to be part of such a special moment in their lives, thank you for trusting us with your care. We are honored to have shared in your stories, your celebrations, and the first chapters of so many lives.

The Maternity Center may be closed, but the memories, relationships, and impact of those who served there will remain a cherished part of Johnson Memorial Health's history forever.
