โ€œIn birth, we find the courage we never knew we had and the strength that was there all along.โ€ โ€“ Marcie Macari

Hi, my name is Bria Comer. I am a birth doula, as well as a dance teacher, licensed physical therapist assistant, and a mama to my son, daughter, and dog! I am so excited that you are considering the idea of a doula. I believe that everyone deserves the support and knowledge of a birth

doula to help make childbirth the beautiful journey it should be. My background in dance and physical therapy, in combination with my doula training, gives me valuable insight into the physiology of the perinatal time frame to help you embrace the power within your body. I have seen firsthand how positioning, massage techniques, intentional movement, and breath work help birthing individuals. My goal as your doula is first and foremost to support you with your needs and desires, whatever decisions you make. I am also interested in helping you learn about normal physiology and movement practices during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum to help empower and educate you. This will help you be in tune with your body and its needs as well, so you can continue to find strength and balance beyond our time together! I also use my knowledge and experience from over 6 years of working in pediatric physical therapy to help educate and guide you on normal infant development, if you are interested.

Another postpartum session in the books! This time, I:

๐Ÿงผ cleaned/ dried/ put back together pump and bottle parts
๐ŸŽ cut up fruit for easy toddler snacks
๐Ÿงน vacuumed/ wiped/ arranged
๐Ÿ‘ถ snuggled and rocked and sang to this sweet girl while mama did some self-care
๐Ÿ’†โ€โ™€๏ธ went over gentle techniques to help with facial tension which can impact breastfeeding

Postpartum sessions are a gift because they are truly individualized to what you and your family need. Let me know what you're looking for!

This sweet furry boy was his mom's biggest cheerleader at my latest client's birth!

A planned home birth, his mama started contracting the night before. When I got there a few hours later, I was eagerly greeted as his mama labored beautifully on all fours. Hip squeezes and massage helped the intensity, and as things continued to intensify, this pupper went upstairs to wait.

A position change to upright made things happen quickly, and a sweet baby girl was born swiftly, initially en caul as she started to emerge. This proud big brother bounded back down, eager to meet his sister and soak up pats while everyone breathed in the beauty of this incredible home birth.

Woop woop got my updated PTA license today! ๐Ÿค“

I'm not currently explicitly practicing as a PTA, but my knowledge from my work as one, as well as a dance teacher, helps me be tuned in to my clients' bodies and how we can best optimize their movement for pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. ๐Ÿคฐ

My Pro training was a huge part of the CEUs I earned to update my license, and I love getting to have that training, this license (which I've held for a little over 9 years now) and more than half my life's worth of experience teaching dance to help me help others move ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿป

My goal is one day to do pelvic floor PT training to also help support my doula practice! Maybe how I'll earn my next round of CEUs ๐Ÿ˜Š

I had the privilege of supporting a mama through an induction for her long-hoped-for baby.

Inductions can be a lot.
A lot of waiting.
A lot of interventions.
A lot of straying from your dream birth plan.
A lot of self doubt.

It is an honor to help birthing individuals through all that with calm words, grounding touch, suggestions for movements and position changes, making sure she is eating and drinking, reminders of their strength.

These are the mantras I kept repeating for this mama. Finding connection between surges, breathing together through the waves, rejoicing in the moment her sweet baby girl was born.

Welcome to the world, Naรฏka. You and your mama are incredible in a lot of ways ๐Ÿ˜Š

!!! Super excited to share that I am officially a BRM Pro!
This course was absolutely phenomenal, eye-opening, and a game changer for the birth community. I always knew movement would be part of my doula practice, so this training was like 16 weeks of my love language ๐Ÿ˜

Highly recommend following Lindsay McCoy - Body Ready Method and doing their training if you are a birth worker (I get no compensation for saying this lol, it's just amazing)

Honored today and every day to serve strong, powerful, capable women.

I had a consultation the other day. I explained what I offer (specifically re: helping you with individualized movement, breath, and finding your flow) , and she said my favorite thing I've heard during a consultation: "I didn't know that's what I was looking for until you said that. That makes so much sense. I have another interview but it's looking good for you!"

๐Ÿฅฐ she hired me 2 days later and I'm going to meet her in person tomorrow! I am so grateful for what i have learned in my doula journey so far, and I'm even more grateful to be able to pass that knowledge along.

Thank you for trusting me and allowing me to be part of your journey. I'm awful at social media lol but I'm deeply committed to you and helping make your pregnancy, birth and postpartum as peaceful and empowered as possible.

All births are incredible, and I am so grateful to have been part of the birth team for this beautiful mama.

As a grounding affirmation track played in the background, she moved intuitively from room to room, position to position, reaching for support as needed but ultimately in charge of the process.

Her mom was also present, offering love and patience as the waves got more intense. The space was surrounded by love, comfort, and trust.

As the sun started to set on Wednesday evening, she welcomed her baby girl to the world. Welcome, sweet girl. This picture of your mama with her mama, just a few hours before your debut, shows you the powerful yet calm family you are lucky to be part of.

Thank you to for including me in this journey ๐Ÿ’•

In the early hours of Christmas Eve, and the fading minutes of boxing day, I got to witness two beautiful births. Both had had long prodromal labors, both had a cervix which was in no rush to dilate, both chose to use this labor comb and its mantra: "I am calm, strong, and brave," to help get through the intensity of contractions.

Their pushing phases were wildly different, though both resulted in a perfect baby girl being pushed out and immediately placed to mom's calm, strong, and brave chest. How incredible that the same mantra lay the foundation for these women to harness their strength.

Birth is intense, no matter how the babies get here, and it was an honor to witness these births unfold.

As the year closes I hope you are able to keep this mantra as you are foundation as well. YOU are calm, strong, and brave. Whatever life throws at you in this new year, you've got this, literally in the palm of your hand ๐Ÿ™Œ
