Take My Hand

In Loving Memory of Colin Kelly Main, Sr.

When the day had finally ended,
And the sun began to fade,
The Lord looked down with loving eyes
And gently called his name.

The hands that shaped and crafted steel,
The hands that worked so long,
Had finished every task assigned,
And heard Heaven's welcome song.

He walked through fields of blooming flowers,
Past gardens bright and fair,
The same kind he had loved on earth,
Now growing everywhere.

The waters there are peaceful,
The fish forever bite,
The burdens of this earthly life
Have vanished in the light.

No pain remains to slow his step,
No sorrow fills his days.
Only joy beyond compare
And everlasting praise.

He sees the beauty of forever,
A place prepared above,
Where every heart is made complete
And every soul knows love.

The Lord reached out and took his hand,
As Colin crossed the way.
Not as a stranger meeting him,
But a friend he'd known each day.

"Come walk with Me," the Savior said,
"Your labor here is done.
You fought the fight, you kept the faith,
And now your crown is won."

So when you think of Colin,
Do not picture goodbye tears.
Think of him standing tall and strong,
Freed from all his years.

Think of a smile across his face,
Brighter than before.
Think of him walking hand in hand
Upon that golden shore.

For though we miss his presence here,
And wish he could remain,
He would not trade his home above
To walk this earth again.

His heart is full.

His soul is free.

His journey is complete.

And somewhere beyond our sight today,

He's smiling.

He's fishing.

He's walking with the Lord.

And he's happy.

So very happy.

A Legacy of Service, A Journey of Grace
In Loving Memory of Eddie L. Johnson Sr.

A man is more than moments lost,
More than roads that crossed and cost.
A life is made of lessons learned,
Of bridges built and wisdom earned.

Born in Greenville, Mississippi's humble land,
Eddie walked through life with steady hands.
He served his country with honor and pride,
With strength, integrity, and purpose as his guide.

For forty-six years of civilian service, he answered the call,
Standing faithful and dedicated through it all.
A soldier, a mentor, a trusted friend,
Whose commitment to others would never end.

Yet life is not a perfect song,
And sometimes hearts carry hurt along.
Eddie knew struggles from long ago,
The burdens that only a lifetime can know.

The childhood he carried was not always kind,
Leaving memories that stayed within his mind.
Yet through life's challenges, he found his way,
Working hard and growing stronger every day.

His sons, Eddie Lee Johnson Jr. and Dwight Johnson,
Carry memories of their father that will forever live on.
Each life's journey unfolds in its own way and time,
Yet family remains connected by a bond that will always shine.

His grandchildren, Momo Johnson, Malik Johnson, Alicia Johnson,
Aiko Johnson, and Noah Michael Shakur too,
Carry pieces of his legacy within all they do.
His stories, his wisdom, his laughter, and care,
Will remain in their hearts and always be there.

Known for his kindness and generous heart,
He made people feel welcomed from the very start.
Always willing to listen, encourage, and guide,
With compassion and friendship he carried with pride.

And waiting for him on Heaven's shore,
Were loved ones he longed to see once more.
His mother, Idelia, with open embrace,
His brother, Issac, and sister, Lula, face to face.

What a reunion that day must have been,
As old wounds faded and peace settled in.
No more burdens, no more pain to bear,
Only everlasting love surrounding him there.

So today we celebrate a life well lived,
A man who worked hard and had much to give.
A father, grandfather, veteran, mentor, and friend,
Whose influence and legacy will never end.

Though tears may fall and hearts may ache,
We cherish the memories no time can take.
And while we must say goodbye for now,
His spirit remains with us somehow.

For love does not end when life departs,
It lives forever in grateful hearts.
And Eddie's story will continue to be told,
Through the family he loved and the lives he helped mold.

Rest peacefully, Eddie. Your work is done.
May you rejoice beneath Heaven's eternal sun.
Until we meet again in that home above,
You will be remembered with love.

A Gentle Soul Remembered
In Loving Memory of Matthew L. Cushing
Today we gather with heavy hearts,
Yet grateful for the love he gave.
A gentle soul, so kind and true,
Whose memory time can never erase.
Born beneath the Belizean sky,
To Linda and Douglas Cushing, proud and dear,
They nurtured him with love and care
And watched him grow throughout the years.
Matthew walked this life with quiet strength,
Always willing to lend a hand.
The shirt off his back he freely gave,
Simply because he cared for his fellow man.
He found joy in life's simple gifts,
A fishing line cast upon the water's gleam,
Hours spent gaming with laughter and friends,
Moments that became treasured memories and dreams.
But above all else, his greatest treasure,
His heart's most sacred and precious part,
Were Sean, Marcus, and Trinity,
The three bright lights within his heart.
A father's love so deep and pure,
A bond that nothing could ever sever.
His children were his greatest pride,
And his love for them will live forever.
To Linda and Douglas, his beloved parents,
Your son was a blessing beyond measure.
The kindness, compassion, and love he carried
Will always be a family's treasure.
Cancer may have taken his earthly form,
But it could never take his light.
The kindness he shared, the smiles he gave,
Still shine within us bright.
So when you think of Matthew, smile.
Remember his laughter, his gentle way.
Remember the love he freely gave
And carry a piece of him every day.
Though we must say farewell for now,
His spirit remains wherever love is found.
For those we cherish never truly leave;
Their footprints stay upon the ground.
Rest peacefully, Matthew,
Beloved son of Linda and Douglas,
Devoted father to Sean, Marcus, and Trinity,
And cherished by all who knew you.
Until we meet again someday,
Your love will guide us through.
Forever remembered, forever missed,
Forever loved by those whose lives you touched. ❤️

John Samuel Seighman
July 18, 1969 - May 22, 2026

In the hum of wire and the glow of light,
John worked with purpose day and night.
Born to George and Diana, strong and true,
He carried the values they instilled in him too.
With steady hands and a careful eye,
He made sure systems came alive.

An electrician’s touch, precise and true,
He built his world in what he knew.
Circuits and currents, grounded and strong,
He fixed what was broken, made right what was wrong.

From Charleroi roots to Virginia ground,
A loyal heart is where he was found.
Firstborn son with a steady way,
Hard work guided him every day.

With Daniel beside him, side by side,
He built a company filled with pride.
Not just success in what he made,
But in the honest example he laid.

A husband of thirty-five faithful years,
Through laughter, struggle, joy and tears.
Julie stood as his closest friend,
A love that held firm until the end.

A father strong, dependable, near,
Whose voice brought comfort, calm and clear.
To Samantha and Jon, he gave his all,
A steady hand whenever they’d call.

And when he heard “Pappy” spoken with joy,
His heart would rise like a child at play.
With Gavin’s laugh and Olivia’s grin,
That’s where his truest light shined in.

He never turned from a helping hand,
He gave his time, he made a stand.
If someone needed him, he would go,
No hesitation, they always know.

Now mountains wait where he loved to be,
In Pennsylvania’s memory.
A quiet place he held so dear,
Now keeping him forever near.

Though he has gone, his work remains,
In every light that still sustains.
In every life he touched along the way,
John’s steady spirit will always stay.

Bruce’s Journey Home

Bruce was the kind of man you never forgot,
A heart full of love, giving all that he got.
From Fredericksburg roots to Newark’s bright light,
He faced every challenge with courage and might.

He loved his sports and the thrill of the game,
Cheering on his teams with passion and flame.
From racquetball courts to laughter out loud,
Bruce carried himself humble yet proud.

If you needed a hand, he was first at your side,
With wisdom and kindness he never would hide.
“The shirt off his back” is a saying so true,
Because helping and caring was simply what Bruce knew.

To Pat, whose love stood faithful and strong,
Your bond with Bruce will forever live on.
Through memories shared and the life that you built,
His spirit remains where love was heartfelt.

To Florence and Lester, the roots of his name,
And all of his family who loved him the same,
May comfort surround you as tears softly fall,
For Bruce’s warm spirit still watches over all.

Though his earthly journey has come to an end,
His laughter and stories will live on again.
In every game played, in each sunny day,
The love Bruce gave will never fade away.

So today we remember, celebrate, and smile,
For a man who made life brighter all the while.
And though we must part for just a short while,
We know Bruce crossed Heaven with his unforgettable style.

For Makisha Shantal Terrell

Some people leave this world
with noise and grandeur,
but some leave quietly—
like a candle still glowing
long after the room has gone dark.
Makisha was that kind of light.

She carried compassion
not as something she practiced,
but as something she was.
In nursing homes, hospital rooms,
and beside the beds of those in pain,
her hands became comfort,
her words became peace,
and her presence became home
for so many souls who needed kindness.

Even when life placed unbearable weight upon her,
even when her own body grew tired,
Makisha still found strength
to pour love into others.
Where many would have surrendered to bitterness,
she answered hardship with courage,
answered suffering with grace,
and answered pain with compassion.

She was a protector—
fierce in loyalty, unwavering in love.
Family was her heartbeat.
Her beloved daughter, Zyh’aïra,
was the light of her life
and the greatest reflection of her love.
And beside her through life’s journey
stood her sisters—Audrey, Kymira, and Ebony—
bound together not only by blood,
but by loyalty, laughter, memories, and strength.

Friends became family in her care,
and anyone blessed enough to know her
understood that behind her strength
was a woman with a tender heart
that never stopped giving.

In quiet moments,
with yarn in her hands
and memories of her grandmother beside her,
she stitched together more than blankets or patterns—
she stitched together tradition, comfort, and love.
Every thread carried a piece of her spirit:
patient, beautiful, and enduring.

Though her journey here was far too short,
Makisha’s life cannot be measured by years alone.
It is measured in the people she lifted,
the family she fiercely loved,
the child who carries her heart forward,
and the countless lives forever changed
simply because she was here.

So today, we do not speak only of loss.
We speak of love that remains.
Of strength that still echoes.
Of a beautiful soul
whose memory will continue to guide, protect, and inspire.

And somewhere beyond our sight,
where pain no longer reaches,
Makisha rests peacefully—
surrounded by light,
still watching over those she loved most.

Forever loved.
Forever remembered.

For Jorge “Chapin” Ernesto Diaz

They called him Chapin, strong and proud,
The kind of man who stood out in a crowd.
With a joke to tell and a laugh so loud,
He lifted spirits wherever he was found.

With his “Bad to the Bone” hat sitting low,
He’d head to the water and let life slow.
Fishing at Lake Anna, watching the tide,
With ranchera music and peace by his side.

He came from Guatemala with dreams in his hand,
Worked hard every day to provide for his clan.
Brick by brick, with sweat and pride,
He built a strong life for the ones by his side.

Jessica, his oldest, he loved from the start,
Vanessa and Victoria, twins close to his heart.
And Charlize, his youngest, his baby girl too,
Each daughter carried a piece of his truth.

He never had boys, but he’d proudly say,
“My girls are tough in every way.”
He raised them fearless, strong, and wise,
Prepared to stand tall through all of life’s tides.

Then came his grandkids, the joy of his days,
Who ran to their Welo in loving embrace.
Raulito, Damian, Adrianna with cheer,
Elian, Santi, and Zaire so dear.

He never met strangers, only friends not yet known,
And no one around him ever felt alone.
His stories and laughter filled every room,
Turning dark moments away from the gloom.

Though our hearts today are heavy with pain,
His love and his memory forever remain.
And somewhere beyond where the calm waters flow,
Chapin is fishing where soft breezes blow.

So when rancheras play or old trucks roll by,
When the lake shines bright beneath the sky,
We’ll smile through the tears, for we all know,
Our Chapin lived truly “Bad to the Bone.”

“A Gentle Soul at Rest”

In quiet fields where soft winds blow,
Through King George roads he’d always know,
A gentle man with steady hands,
Who found his peace in simple plans.

Born beneath Virginia skies,
With kindness shining in his eyes,
Lawrence walked a humble way,
Bringing warmth to every day.

He loved the earth beneath his feet,
Fresh-cut grass and summer heat,
Washing cars till they would gleam,
Living life with quiet dreams.

Westerns playing late at night,
Sports on Sundays brought delight,
Al Green singing sweet and low,
The soundtrack of the life he'd know.

With horseshoes tossed and laughter near,
He filled the hearts of those held dear.
And if a feather brushed your ear,
You knew that Lawrence must be near.

Fearless of the spider’s crawl,
Or snakes that frightened one and all,
He faced this world both brave and true,
With strength in everything he'd do.

Banana pudding, fried chicken too,
The simple joys he always knew.
A helping hand, a caring smile,
That made hard days seem light awhile.

At Peoples Union, faith took root,
A life grounded deep in truth.
And now the Lord has called him home,
No longer here to walk alone.

Though hearts are heavy, tears may fall,
His love remains within us all.
For absent from this earthly shore,
He rests with God forevermore.

So let the stories still be told,
Of Lawrence’s heart so pure and gold.
A soul so gentle, kind, and free,
Will live through all our memories.

Beneath the Tree
In Loving Memory of Tom William

Beneath the shade of a quiet tree,
A gentle soul found peace and harmony.
With weathered hands and a patient smile,
Tom made this world more warm worthwhile.

Born in days both hard and cold,
He carried burdens brave and bold.
Though life denied what others knew,
He built a strength both deep and true.

From Halifax roads to Fredericksburg skies,
He walked with hope within his eyes.
And though the journey was often steep,
His faith in love ran strong and deep.

Neighbors paused and children came,
Drawn not by fortune, wealth, or fame,
But by the kindness in his face,
And the calm within his quiet grace.

And there beneath that faithful tree,
Love arrived so tenderly.
Regina stood beside his heart,
A bond no sorrow now can part.

Kevin, Perry, Lurelle, and Charlé too,
Were blessed to share life’s path with you.
Your love and wisdom helped them grow,
In ways more precious than words can show.

And to the grandchildren gathered near—
Lorenzo, Ameyah, all held dear,
Derek Jr., Lenaya bright,
Leirra, Leiana, hearts of light,
And Cherish, whose name says all above,
You leave them wrapped in lasting love.

Together they shared the gift of time,
Through simple joys and days sublime.
A love built strong through care and trust,
A union faithful, kind, and just.

Though now he rests beyond our sight,
His memory shines a guiding light.
In every laugh, in every prayer,
Tom’s gentle spirit lingers there.

For greatness is not wealth or fame,
But love remembered in your name.
And those who knew him understand
He left his heart in every hand.

Though Tom now rests in peaceful light,
His memory shines warm and bright.
For love like his will always stay
In the hearts he touched along the way.

In Loving Memory of Michael Darnell Tucker Sr.
January 19, 1959 to April 17, 2026

A life so full, so richly lived,
A heart that gave, a soul that gave,
In every laugh, in every hug,
He left behind the love he made.

From D.C.’s streets where he began,
To places far where duty called,
He stood with strength, a Marine so proud,
With honor answering it all.

Through work and craft, through years of skill,
He built a life both strong and true,
At the Smithsonian he left his mark,
A legacy in all he would do.

But more than titles, more than days,
It was his love that led the way,
A father, granddad, great granddad,
His greatest pride, his brightest ray.

He showed up for each grandchild’s smile,
Through every moment, big or small,
With open arms and steady love,
He was there, always, for them all.

With music playing, joy so wide,
He would cut a rug with timeless grace,
Bowed legs moving, full of swag,
A light no darkness could erase.

By water’s edge or by the grill,
He found his peace, he shared his care,
In every meal, in every cast,
You felt his love it was always there.

Though we now walk this road apart,
His spirit never fades away,
For in our hearts, in all we do,
His love and laughter forever true.

Semper Fi, his life declared,
Always faithful, strong, and true,
And in that faith, we carry on,
With him in all we say and do.
