Methodist Hospital Hill Country, formerly Hill Country Memorial, was founded in 1971 as a small, rural hospital in Fredericksburg, Texas, with only 20 beds. Over the last fifty years, our hospital has grown into a comprehensive healthcare center, serving the Texas Hill Country area with a range of medical services, including emergency care, cardiology, gastroenterology and orthopedics.

Grief can feel overwhelming, but you do not have to navigate it alone.

Methodist Healthcare | Hill Country Hospice and Family Care offers a professionally facilitated grief support group for those who have experienced the death of a loved one within the last two years.

The group meets the first Monday of each month at 3 p.m. at the Cancer Resource Center in the Brune Building, 808 Reuben St. in Fredericksburg.

When Lester Meier came to Methodist Hospital | Hill Country for hip replacement surgery, he and his wife, Holly, expected Lester to be the only one receiving care that day. But when Holly became too weak to walk down the hallway, our care team stepped in — and she was admitted for pneumonia.

Their unexpected hospital stay became a reminder of what local care can mean for Hill Country families: familiar faces, compassionate support and care close to home.

A former bull rider and founder of the Lester Meier Rodeo Company, Lester says his hip pain once kept him from climbing onto his tractor or carrying feed for his livestock. Since surgery, he says he has been pain-free and able to get back to life on the ranch.

“It’s local and convenient,” Lester said. “We had a great experience.”

On Friday, members of our Operations leadership team volunteered at Der Stadt Cemetery, placing flags on the graves of veterans in honor of the upcoming Memorial Day observance.

This meaningful act gave us the opportunity to remember and recognize the brave men and women who served our country and made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

We are grateful to be part of a community that honors our veterans and helps preserve the true meaning of Memorial Day.
