I noticed my mom shuffling her feet when she walks.

Nothing happened. She didn’t fall. But my mind went straight to one place:

Is this going to happen to me too? 😳

Then I caught myself walking on video... and my stride didn’t look the way I expected.

I had two choices. Decide ā€œthis is just what’s coming.ā€ Or get curious.

I got curious. And it changed how I train.

Here’s what I want you to know: what you see in your family is information about your future. It is NOT a prediction of it.

šŸ‘‰ In adults over 60, lifestyle changes cut type 2 diabetes risk by about 71 %
šŸ‘‰ Balance-focused exercise reduces falls by about 23%.
šŸ‘‰ Nearly half of dementia cases may be linked to factors we can influence.

No guarantee doesn’t mean no influence.

New episode of My Sexy Menopause Body is live. šŸŽ§ Link in bio.

šŸ’¬ Tell me: what have you seen in your family that you’re quietly afraid will happen to you?

Can your muscles still change after menopause?
A 2026 study put postmenopausal women through 15 weeks of progressive resistance training—and researchers didn’t just ask how they felt. They used MRI to look at what actually changed inside the muscle.
Muscle volume increased by about 4% in the women who trained, and strength improved.
But not everything changed.
And that’s exactly why I started this new 5-Minute Evidence Check series.
I don’t want to tell you, ā€œA study says strength training works.ā€ I want to show you who was studied, what researchers actually measured, what changed, what didn’t—and what the findings really mean for you.
Because maybe getting weaker isn’t something you should automatically write off as ā€œjust getting older.ā€

Everybody seems obsessed with living to 100.

But I think there’s a better question:

What would have to be true for you to actually want to live to 100?

For me, it’s not about the number on the birthday cake. It’s about being able to participate in my own life.

To move. Think clearly. Make my own decisions. Stay connected to the people I love. Laugh. Learn. Travel. Cook. Read. Stay curious.

That’s the conversation I’m having in this week’s episode of My Sexy Menopause Body.

Because maybe the goal isn’t simply to live longer. Maybe the goal is to build a life you still want to be living.

The Longevity Question Nobody Is Asking

09/18/2026

Think about your life for a minute.

Who has sat beside you along the way?

Your parents. Your siblings. Your children. The person you fell in love with. The friend who knew you when nobody else did. The coworker who became family. The person who showed up at exactly the moment you needed them.

And then life changes.

Someone gets off.

A seat that once felt permanently occupied becomes empty. Sometimes that absence changes you forever.

But the train keeps moving. And somewhere farther down the track, another person may climb aboard. Someone you couldn’t possibly have known you would need. Someone who teaches you something, loves you differently, supports you through another chapter, or simply makes part of the ride a little sweeter.

That is what I love about the metaphor behind this week’s podcast.

Our lives are not shaped by one person, one relationship, or one chapter. They are shaped by all the people who have shared some part of the journey with us.

And maybe today is a good day to notice the people who are still sitting beside you. The Train of Life is now on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and all major platforms.

But here’s something important that gets lost in the conversation:
Menopause itself is actually a point in time.
Clinically, you reach menopause after you have gone 12 consecutive months without a menstrual period.
Then you are postmenopausal.
And you remain postmenopausal for the rest of your life.
Think about that.

You may never get compliments on your balance training. Nobody is going to ask what exercise gave you that amazing ability to step off a curb, walk across uneven ground, climb stairs, travel, hike, or catch yourself when you stumble.
But years from now, those abilities may matter a whole lot more than how your workout looked.

Most of us don’t need more health advice.

We need help figuring out what actually matters enough to change—and how to make that change fit real life.

That’s where good coaching is different. Follow me for more.

If you hired a health coach, would you expect her to give you answers…or ask you questions?

A lot of people are surprised by how much good coaching involves listening, reflecting, and asking the right question at the right time.

That’s intentional.

Knowing what to do and actually doing it are two very different things. Real behavior change gets stronger when you connect a change to something that matters personally to you—not just because someone handed you another list of instructions.

So when a coach asks, ā€œWhat would it mean to you if this changed?ā€ she isn’t avoiding the answer.

She’s helping you uncover the reason you’ll still care about when motivation gets shaky.

Today, ask yourself:

What would it actually mean to me if I felt better in my body?

Write down the first honest answer that comes.

Good questions create more change than good advice.
