If your sciatica is worse when you wake up but gets better as you move around, that's a clue.
One of the first things I'm considering is a disc bulge or herniated disc.
Most people assume moving around should make a disc problem worse, but in many cases the opposite happens. Throughout the day, the mechanics of your spine change and pressure shifts toward the back of the spine, helping move the disc away from the nerves it's irritating.
Then you go to sleep.
Your spine relaxes, the disc settles back toward the nerves and spinal cord, and you wake up feeling like someone hit the reset button on your sciatica.
That's why understanding the source of the problem matters. You can't fix what you haven't identified.
If you're in Columbus, Ohio and dealing with sciatica, give me a call. I'll help determine what's actually causing it and point you in the right direction.
