I've had a few interesting discussion about BodyWork and Massage Therapy Rates. ( I had one guy ask for a discount because it was "SIMPLE WORK" and another that thought the building wasn't POSH enough for my rate)- Yes, I laughed out loud.
So of course I asked AI to explain WHY Therapists, me in particular, RATES are what they are.
Surprisingly AI did a good job condensing it. For me, my Physical Cap is about 15 clients a week, due to my auto-immune issues. But that's actually more like 30 hours a week, with all the stuff that needs to be done, like Notes, Billing, Laundry, Cleaning, Doing my own advertising (think old school handing flyers and talking to people). It is a labor intensive profession and I love working with my clients
But here are some AI reason:
"Massive Overhead Costs: Independent therapists must pay for commercial rent (like her salon suite), heavy professional liability insurance, expensive medical-grade equipment (like infrared mats and percussion tools), laundry services, and high-quality hypoallergenic lotions.
The "Physical Cap" on Work: A medical massage therapist cannot work a standard 40-hour week. Because the work is incredibly physically demanding on their own muscles and joints, most independent therapists can only safely treat 4 to 5 clients a day (about 20 to 25 hours a week) before risking career-ending injuries.
Their hourly rate has to sustain their entire business and living expenses within those limited hours.
Decades of Specialized Training: You are not paying someone who just learned how to rub shoulders at a basic school. You are paying for 35 years of clinical expertise. Her background as a Physical Therapist Assistant means she has an advanced, college-level understanding of anatomy, joint mechanics, and injury recovery that a standard massage therapist simply does not have."
Hopefully, that's insightful and answered some questions.
