So honored to have my mentors come by, celebrate and support Nova!

What a great kickoff to the weekend celebrating Ginka and the opening of Nova Psychotherapy Services.

When we started IMHA, it was never about asking, “How big can we get?” It was always about asking, “How do we help grow clinicians so they can spread their wings?”

Watching clinicians step into their own vision and create spaces that reflect who they are is one of the most rewarding parts of this work.

If you’re in the East Valley and looking for a place to land, be sure to check them out.

✨ Yesterday I had the privilege of speaking about trauma-informed care and healing birth trauma within the BIPOC community on a topic that is deeply personal and close to my heart.

We often think of trauma as the big events.
And yes… those matter. 🤍

But trauma also lives in the quieter moments, the subtle experiences of dismissal, minimization, authority, and directive systems that leave a mama or a family feeling unheard.
Moments that force people to operate from protection instead of choice.

And this reality shows up far too often in the BIPOC maternal health experience. 🌿

But this isn’t just about birth or healthcare.

Across so many areas of life, when we feel threatened or unsafe, we adapt.
We learn to:
🙇🏽‍♀️ Please
🫣 Hide
🤐 Measure Our Words
🥴 Soften Ourselves
🫥 Stay Small

Not from authenticity, but from a need to stay safe, cared for, validated, loved, or simply connected.

❗️And these strategies work… for a while.
They’re the coping skills that help us get across the river without drowning 🌊 … but they don’t teach us how to swim freely, confidently, or sustainably.

✨ Healing isn’t about shaming those survival skills.
It’s about gently learning new ones, the kind that help us push against fear, step out of self-protection, and move toward
🗣️ Speaking Up
🫵🏾 Showing Up ……and
🤲🏽 Vulnerably Connecting

‼️That’s where choice begins.
And that’s where real healing lives. 🤍✨

✨ Three New Blogs Are LIVE! ✨

I’m so excited to share a piece of my heart and healing journey with you - three deeply personal and powerful blog posts are now available on the Nova website. Each one weaves together threads of EMDR, motherhood, and military-family life, because healing isn’t one-size-fits-all 💛

✨🧠 Beyond Talk Therapy: How EMDR Rewires Your Brain After Trauma - an invitation to understand how trauma lives not only in our stories, but in our nervous systems, and how EMDR can support real healing.

🤍🌱 When Trying Becomes Traumatic: How EMDR Transforms the Infertility Journey - a gentle, honest look at the emotional weight infertility can carry, and how trauma-informed care can offer hope.

🫶🪖 Pregnancy, Birth, and Military Life: The Hidden Challenges Families Face - heartfelt reflections on the unique struggles and strengths of military-connected mamas navigating pregnancy, deployment, separation, and transition.

🩷 Whether you’re a mama, a partner, a veteran, or navigating past trauma, I hope these blogs resonate, validate your experience, and remind you: healing isn’t linear, and you don’t have to walk it alone.
