Did you know you can go to therapy for any reason for as long or as short as you want? The majority of therapists are client-focused and very solution-oriented. Tell them what you need. If you feel you just need extra support then that’s a good enough reason. What extra support could you use right now? That’s the question to base your search after.

Self-regulation is the greatest work one can do that I believe is the answer to more connective and honest relationships. Actually being able to is the hardest part. But most things worth having take hard work to get there.

Got to break free and spend a whole day with my guy to do one of our favorite things. Cibecue Falls was amazing! Gorgeous hike and waterfall. What a great way to reset and connect with my favorite person.

One of the best things we can model as parents is how to right wrongs. That starts with admitting when we make mistakes, asking for forgiveness, and teaching how to repair. So much connection comes out of that.

So remember, even in our failures, we can teach such valuable lessons.

On the way to pick up my son from school, I caught myself doing what so many of us do…
“Is he really sick? Is he exaggerating? Is this a way to get out of class?”

And then he threw up the second we walked out the door.

Here’s the humbling truth:
Our kids are telling us who they are and what they feel in real time—and when we don’t believe them, we don’t just miss the moment… we shape how safe it feels for them to come to us in the future.

From a developmental standpoint, being believed matters more than being “right.”
When children feel dismissed, they start to question their own internal experience:
👉 “Maybe I’m overreacting.”
👉 “Maybe my feelings don’t make sense.”
👉 “Maybe I shouldn’t say anything next time.”

But when they feel believed—even if we’re unsure—we build:
✔ Emotional safety
✔ Trust in the parent-child relationship
✔ Confidence in their own body and feelings

Believing our kids doesn’t mean we never set boundaries.
It means we lead with curiosity before correction.

I’m still practicing this too. 💛

So ABC cancels the show after they see actual footage? So when we see it, we stand on high moral ground. But the producers selected her purposefully, knowing she would bring in views and knew of her domestic violence charges, and dysregulation. Oh our lovely systemic issues of being fascinated by train wrecks. Here’s my nobody cares two cents.
