KidMed, a pediatric urgent care, is devoted just to kids with illnesses or injuries ages newborn to 25 years old. Or, book ahead online with our Save Your Spot feature. We provide compassionate care in a comfortable, kid-friendly environment. Each of our four locations has on-site lab testing and X-ray services for diagnosis and treatment. KidMed’s pediatric board-certified physicians and pediatric-trained team provide medical care for conditions many would go to the emergency room for, including broken bones and stitches, at a fraction of the cost and with less waiting time. Please note: If your child has chronic issues (such as cardiac issues or uncontrolled asthma), please visit your primary pediatrician for their sports physical.

How to plan for your visit:

✅ Bring the sports physical form provided either by the school or the team. We can provide a standard form if you don’t have one.

✅ Complete the parent and student sections of the form prior to arrival.

✅ Make sure the health history questionnaire is complete and accurate.

✅ If your child wears glasses or contacts, they must have them with them on-site for their sports physical exam.

🤢 Few things make a parent's skin crawl quite like finding a tick on their child. But the good news is that when a tick is removed properly and promptly, the risk of illness is low.

Stay calm and follow these simple instructions:

🧼 Clean the bite area with rubbing alcohol and use fine-tipped tweezers.

⬆️ Grab the tick's body close to the head. Pull slowly, straight up, and make sure the head is removed.

🧼 Clean the bite area with soap and water or rubbing alcohol after removal.

📸 Take a picture of the tick in case identification is needed. If you want to keep it for future reference, submerge the tick in rubbing alcohol to kill it, and place it in a plastic bag.

🚽 If you would like to dispose of the tick, flush it down the toilet or wrap it in heavy tape and throw it in the trash.

🚫 Most importantly, do not crush the tick with your fingers or try to burn it off your skin.

👀 Watch the bite area closely, and if a target or circular rash appears at the bite site, or anywhere else on the body, visit KidMed as soon as possible for a physical exam.

‼️ It is important for anyone with a target or circular rash to see a doctor, as a tick bite is only known in 25-30% of cases, according to the CDC.
